Abstract: An endoscope system includes: a first processor configured to perform first image processing on a set of image data; a second processor configured to perform second image processing on another set of image data; a third processor configured to generate, based on sets of image data output from the first and second processors, display image data; a recorder configured to record therein image data based on the sets of image data output from the first and second processors; a fourth processor configured to generate a first synchronization signal for synchronization among the first processor, the second processor, and the third processor; a fifth processor configured to generate a second synchronization signal for synchronization between the third processor and the recorder; and a controller configured to select one of the first and second synchronization signals, and perform control for synchronization between the third processor and the recorder.

Abstract: A image file creation method includes: an image pickup step of picking up an image of a living body; a treatment detection step of detecting a treatment related to the living body; and an image file creation step of creating, according to a result of the detection in the treatment detection step, an image file, for image data obtained in the image pickup step, with specimen information including information indicating that the image is an image relating to specimen collection by the treatment related to the living body, to record data of, e.g., an image of a tissue such as a cell itself and data of, e.g., an image related to the tissue such as the cell, a treatment and/or collection, enabling a plurality of institutions, facilities, etc., to easily refer to information on the tissue such as the cell.

Abstract: An endoscope system includes: an image pickup device configured to output a digital signal; an EEPROM in which predetermined information concerning an endoscope is recorded; a signal control portion capable of selectively converting data of one of the digital signal outputted from the image pickup device and the predetermined information of the EEPROM to serial data and outputting the serial data; an electro-optical conversion portion configured to convert the data outputted from the signal control portion to an optical signal and output the optical signal; a universal cable; and a data switching portion switched to transfer the predetermined information from the EEPROM by the signal control portion and then transfer the digital signal by the signal control portion. The signal control portion decides through which of a metal transmitting member and an optical transmitting member the predetermined information is transmitted, based on a data amount of the predetermined information.

Abstract: An endoscope system includes an image pickup portion configured to pick up an image of a subject and output the image as an electrical signal, a processor configured to perform, on the electrical signal, a signal correction that converts the electrical signal into a signal of a video format that is compatible with a signal processed by the image processing apparatus, and an image processing portion configured to perform image processing on the electrical signal after the signal correction. An E/O converter that converts the electrical signal into an optical signal, an optical fiber that transmits the optical signal, and an O/E converter that converts the optical signal into the electrical signal, are arranged in at least one of between the image pickup portion and the processor, and between the processor and the image processing portion.
