Abstract: A user terminal apparatus includes a receiver to receive a control information value belonging to a set of multiple control information values. Each control information value in the set of multiple control information values is associated with a subset of random access sequences from multiple subsets of random access sequences. Different ones of the multiple subsets of random access sequences are associated with different amounts of data. A data processor selects a random access sequence from one of the subset of random access sequences based on the control information value. A transmitter transmits the selected random access sequence.

Abstract: Provided is a communication device, which is enabled to improve the throughput of a communication system by reducing the difference of a transmission power between an SCCH and an SDCH thereby to satisfy the required quality of a PAPR. In this device, an MCS selection unit (111) of a transmission unit (110) decides, with reference to a CQI lookup table, an MCS pattern (MCS1) of the SDCH, an MCS pattern (MCS2) of the SCCH and information (multiplex information) on multiplex positions on the time axes of those two channels, on the basis of the CQI information. On the basis of the MCS2 and the MCS1, encoding modulation units (112 and 113) perform encoding and modulating operations. According to the multiplex information, a channel multiplexing unit (114) time-division multiplexes the SCCH and the SDCH thereby to generate a transmission signal.

Abstract: A wireless communication apparatus and method minimizes degradation in a separation characteristic of a code-multiplexed response signal using two-dimensional processing. One of plural cyclic shift values defines a reference signal sequence that is spread with an orthogonal sequence associated with one of the plural cyclic shift values. This two-dimensional processing compensates for interference affecting the reference signal.

Abstract: A radio performs random access by receiving control information and grouping a predetermined number of sequences that are generated from a plurality of base sequences into a plurality of groups by partitioning the predetermined number of sequences. At least one of the groups is associated with a first respective range of data amounts and a first respective range of reception qualities. Sequences generated from a common base sequence are arranged in an increasing order of respective cyclic shifts associated with the sequences. A sequence is randomly selected from a plurality of sequences contained in one group of the plurality of groups. A position at which the predetermined number of sequences are partitioned is determined based on the control information. A number of sequences contained in each of the plurality of groups varies in accordance with the control information.

Abstract: A terminal apparatus and retransmission control method reduces overhead of the uplink control channel in cases when ARQ is applied in communication that uses an uplink unit band and a plurality of downlink unit bands associated with the uplink unit band. A first condition is set in which downlink assignment control information is transmitted from a base station by a unit band group which comprises a basic unit band, which is the downlink unit band on which a broadcast channel signal including information relating to the uplink unit band is transmitted, and a second downlink unit band other than the basic unit band. A bundling unit will not transmit a response signal to the base station in certain cases.

The base station also includes a receiving unit configured to receive an ACK/NACK signal, the ACK/NACK signal being multiplied by an orthogonal sequence, by a sequence defined by a cyclic shift, and by either a first value or a second value, wherein the first value rotates a constellation of the ACK/NACK signal by 0 degrees and the second value rotates the constellation of the ACK/NACK signal by N degrees, which is different from 0 degrees.

A data processor detects a condition and dynamically adapts one or more of the associations in the table stored in memory between control information and code sequences depending on the detected condition.
