The capacity management tool is configured to be coupled to one or more of an application layer, a physical layer, and a transport layer of a processor-based network. In a particular embodiment, the capacity management tool is further configured to extract data from one or more of a network connectivity database, a customer provisioning and services ordered database, a customer equipment database, a network element management system database, and a server and application management system database. The capacity management tool can be further configured to correlate the data to manage the capacity of the network or isolate congestion points in the network.

The processor is also configured to receive a request for a previously transmitted portion of one of the Internet protocol multicast video streams from customer premises equipment in response to the customer premises customer requiring the previously transmitted portion for display. The processor is also configured to begin transmission of the previously transmitted portion as an Internet protocol unicast video stream to the customer premises equipment for immediate display.

摘要： Disclosed is a system and method of managing video content quality. The method includes receiving performance data at a video quality prediction system where the performance data is related to a plurality of network elements of a network path linking a video-head end with a set-top box device. The method also includes predicting, based at least partially on the performance data, a quality of video content received at the set-top box device and determining whether the predicted quality of video content is greater than or equal to a video quality threshold. In addition, the method includes identifying at least one of the plurality of network elements not satisfying a performance requirement, based on the performance data, when the predicted quality of video content is less than the video quality threshold. Further, the method includes outputting data indicating the at least one network element not satisfying the performance requirement.

The operations can include analyzing data from data sources of an internet-protocol television network where the data provided by the data sources includes set-top-box data having voice over internet protocol usage for a plurality of subscribers of the internet protocol television network in a geographic area and correlating video provisioning information obtained from the data sources, individual subscriber channel viewing information, internet-usage data, subscriber data and demographic data to produce correlated information. The operations can include generating one or more reports associated with the plurality of subscribers in the geographic area based on the correlated information. Other embodiments are disclosed.

In another embodiment, the computer program at least in part correlates video provisioning information obtained from the data sources, individual subscriber channel viewing information, subscriber data and demographic data to provide informative views of data. The provisioning information may include information such as what programs or television (TV) commercials are shown on each channel during different time periods and the TV or video-on-demand program category information.
