Abstract: A joint structure includes a first metallic material having a first projection; a second metallic material similar in type to the first metallic material and weldable to the first metallic material, the second metallic material having a first penetrating part larger in diameter or width than the first projection, the first projection being positioned in the first penetrating part; and a different type of material different in type from the first metallic material and the second metallic material and difficult to be welded to the first metallic material and the second metallic material, the different type of material having a second penetrating part larger in diameter or width than the first projection, the rim of the second penetrating part being spaced radially or widthwise from the first projection by a first gap. The first projection is positioned in the second penetrating part with the first gap between the first projection and the second penetrating part, the size of the first gap being varied depending on the type of the different type of material. The first projection is further positioned in the first penetrating part. Hence, the different type of material is sandwiched between the first metallic material and the second metallic material. The outer edge of the first projection is welded to the inner edge of the first penetrating part so that the first metallic material and the second metallic material are melted and joined together to compress and fix the different type of material between the first metallic material and the second metallic material, thereby fixing the first metallic material, the second metallic material, and the different type of material together.

Abstract: An arc welding method alternately generates a short-circuit state and an arc state. In the method, short circuits are generated also in the arc period. This more than doubles the total number of short circuits, which is the sum of the short circuits generated in the short circuit period and those generated in the arc period. This enables a thin plate to be arc welded at a higher speed, while reducing its burn-through.

Abstract: A laser welding method according to the present disclosure includes a step in which a third material is interposed between a first material and a second material, which are made of the same type of metal so as to be weldable to one another, and at least one of which is provided with a protruding portion, wherein the third material is difficult to weld to the first material and the second material and has a through-hole portion into which the protruding portion is inserted. The method also includes a step in which, when the third material is interposed between the first material and the second material, a region corresponding to the protruding portion is irradiated with a laser beam from the first material side, and the first material and the second material are welded via the through-hole portion. In the step in which the third material is interposed between the first material and the second material, a first gap is provided between the protruding portion and the inner peripheral face of the through-hole portion, and a second gap corresponding to the plate thickness of the first material is provided between the first material and the second material in the region corresponding to the protruding portion.

Abstract: An arc-welding method in welding by repeating a short circuit and an arc. When the sign of opening of the short circuit is detected, the welding current is reduced from a first current value at the detection of the sign to a second current value, which is lower than the first current value. When the opening of the short circuit is detected, a pulse current having a peak value higher than the first current value is supplied at a plurality of times in the arc period. This suppresses porosities and spatters when galvanized steel sheets are welded.

Abstract: A joint structure includes a first metallic material having a first projection, a second metallic material similar to and weldable to the first metallic material, and a different material having a first penetrating part and sandwiched between the first and second metallic materials, the different material being difficult to weld to the first and second metallic materials. The first projection is smaller than the first penetrating part and is spaced from the rim of the first penetrating part. The first projection is positioned in the first penetrating part and spaced from the second metallic material by a gap. The gap has a size of a predetermined percentage of the thickness of the first projection to which arc welding is applied. The first and second metallic materials are melted and joined together inside the first penetrating part to compress and fix the different material, so all three are fixed together.
