Abstract:
Implantable aneurysm-sac treatment devices include an implantable coil body configured and sized to reside in a sac of an aneurysm. The body has an inductance and capacitance. The capacitance is selected so that the coil resonates at a Larmor frequency of a predefined magnetic field strength.

Abstract:
Disclosed is a system for creating an anastomosis between the inferior vena cava (IVC) and the mesenteric portal vein. The system includes an anastomosis device and a catheter. The anastomosis device brings the IVC and the portal vein into apposition. The resulting anastomosis enables treatment for portal hypertension as well as provides repeated and easy access to the portal system for direct delivery of therapeutic agents to portal organs. The anastomosis device has a proximal flange part, a distal flange part, a flow lumen between them. The proximal and distal flange parts include a plurality of radial struts. A valve part is disposed on one or both of the proximal and distal flange parts. The anastomosis device is made of a memory shape material. The catheter contains a collapsed anastomosis device for insertion and has one or more RF antennas to make the catheter visible under MRI guidance.
Abstract:
An MRI-compatible catheter reduces localized heating due to MR scanner-induced currents and includes a shaft having opposite distal and proximal end portions. One or more RF tracking coils are positioned adjacent the distal end portion and each includes a conductive lead that electrically connects the RF tracking coil to an MRI scanner. Each lead includes a series of back and forth segments along its length. The catheter includes one or more sensing electrodes at the shaft distal end portion, each electrically connected to a resistor having high impedance. A sheath surrounds a portion of the elongated shaft and includes at least one RF shield coaxially disposed therewithin. Each RF shield includes elongated inner and outer conductors and an elongated dielectric layer of MRI compatible material sandwiched between the inner and outer conductors. The inner and outer conductors are electrically connected at one end and electrically isolated at an opposite end.
Abstract:
In vivio deep brain medical probe systems include: (a) an NMRI compatible cannula comprising a plurality of concentric axially extending tubes with a receiving bore; and (b) an elongate antenna member with a conductor and an insulating layer configured to slidably advance through cannula bore to define an MRI receive antenna.
Abstract:
Some embodiments are directed to MRI/RF compatible medical interventional devices. A plurality of spaced apart high impedance circuit segments are configured to have a high impedance at a high range of radiofrequencies and a low impedance at a low range of frequencies The high impedance circuit segments may comprise co-wound coiled inductors and can reduce, block or inhibit RJ-transmission along the lead system (20) during exposure to RF associated with a high-Held magnet MRI systems, while permuting passage of low frequency physiologic signals, treatments and/or stimuli The devices can include at least one electrode.
Abstract:
A deflectable tip catheter that is safe and effective for use in a magnetic resonance imaging environment. The deflectable tip catheter is configured such that it includes a built-in antenna, such as a loopless antenna or a loop antenna. The built-in antenna permits the deflectable tip catheter to be actively tracked and/or visualized. Depending upon the specific configuration of the deflectable tip catheter, the catheter may be tracked and/or visualized as a single unit, it may be tracked and/or visualized separate and independent of other components or instruments associated with the catheter, such as pull wires, injection needles, surgical instruments, and the like. The catheters described herein include injection type catheters and/or guidance type catheters.
Abstract:
RF/MRI compatible leads include at least one conductor that turns back on itself at least twice in a lengthwise direction, and can turn back on itself at least twice at multiple locations along its length. The at least one electrical lead can be configured so that the lead heats local tissue less than about 10 degrees Celsius (typically about 5 degrees Celsius or less) or does not heat local tissue when a patient is exposed to target RF frequencies at a peak input SAR of at least about 4 W/kg and/or a whole body average SAR of at least about 2 W/kg. Related devices and methods of fabricating leads are also described.

Abstract:
Disclosed is a guide catheter that includes one or more RF antennas to enhance the visibility of the guide catheter in MR imagery. One embodiment of the guide catheter includes a loop coil at the distal end of the guide catheter and a loopless antenna between the distal end and the proximal end. By combining a loop coil and a loopless antenna on the catheter, the shaft of the catheter may be visible in MR imagery while the distal end may appear in the MR imagery more brightly than the shaft.
