摘要: A cable meter for monitoring the channel selected by a converter of a television system which receives signals by means of cable. The cable is connected to the cable meter and the output of the cable meter is applied to the converter. The output of the converter is connected back to the cable meter which, in turn, provides an output to the television. During normal operation, signals received by the cable meter from the cable pass directly to the converter, and a selected channel from the converter passes through the cable meter to the television. To monitor the channel selected, an oscillator generates a substitution signal which is substituted for the television signal applied to the converter. The cable meter then monitors whether the substitution signal passes through the converter, during which period, the cable meter prohibits this substitution signal from reaching the television. By varying the frequency of the substitution signal, a search is performed for the selected channel. Techniques are employed to enhance the accuracy of the monitoring. The present invention has applicability to any communications system in which radio frequency signals are transmitted over any medium, such as televisions with internal tuners which may not even be adapted to receive cable signals or radio receivers.

摘要: A transaction document reader reads image data on a transaction document. The image data includes marking areas employed by a user to record marks and includes characters. A sensor senses, one row at a time, rows of image data as the document is transported across the sensor. Each row includes a number of pixel areas. The pixel areas of the rows being aligned in columns. The sensor generates output signals representative of the pixel areas. The output signals are transformed into bit signals representative of each pixel area. The bit signals are stored in image memory which is organized into rows and columns of bit signals corresponding to the rows and columns of the pixel areas of the image data. The marking areas are located in image memory. The marks are identified in the marking areas while additional rows of bit signals are being stored and while other marking areas are being located by probing the bit signals in image memory. A specific area within image memory representative of a single character is also located. A neural network is utilized to recognize the character within specific area.

摘要: The present invention is an apparatus and process for cooling and de-steaming hot calcined stucco used in the production of gypsum boards or bagged plaster. The apparatus is a fluid bed stucco cooler and comprises a cooler housing having a plenum having a stucco inlet and stucco outlet. The stucco cooler includes a rotating disk in the plenum. The rotating disk includes nozzle for spraying fluid, and is attached to a rotable shaft extending from the side of the cooler also includes a fluidization pad and agitator to help to mix the air and the stucco powder to insure fluidization, prevent channeling, and prevent the stucco powder from building up on the various components. The air also forces steam from the hot calcined stucco out through an air outlet located at the top of the stucco cooler, thereby de-steaming the stucco. The stucco flows through the plenum and passes over the cooling coils, thereby cooling the stucco as it reaches the stucco outlet.

摘要: A rotorcraft and method for providing controlled flight which provides flight in all six degrees of freedom of pitch, roll, yaw, up/down, forward/rear, and left/right. The rotorcraft includes a fuselage with a pair of counter-rotating rotor blade assemblies each having a plurality of radially-extending airfoil shaped blades about a vertically disposed central axis. A rotor drive system mounted to the fuselage includes a motor or engine for rotationally driving the rotor blade assemblies. A rotor blade control system monitors the rotational location of each blade relative to the fuselage and allows a pilot to control respective vertical and horizontal thrust components of the blades corresponding to lift versus drag characteristics of the airfoils during rotation about the fuselage. This is done by changing the pitch angles of the blades and/or by utilizing respective flaps pivotally mounted to the blades to change the effective pitch angle of the blades.

摘要: One or more of these or other problems are improved using a method of making a strong gypsum panel which includes a method for forming a hardened shell structure at the interface of a foamed bubble and a gypsum slurry. A strengthening component is selected from the group consisting of set accelerators, water soluble polyphosphate salts, blends of water soluble polyphosphate salts with starch, boric acid, fibers, glycerin or combinations thereof. The strengthening component is combined with a foaming agent and with water to form an aqueous soap mixture. Foam is generated from the aqueous soap mixture, and added to a gypsum slurry. Allowing the strengthening component to contact the soap bubbles prior to addition of the foam to the gypsum slurry allows the strengthening component to preferentially contact the soap film rather than be dispersed through the entire slurry.
