摘要: A single rotating NMR .pi. pulse provides simultaneous spatially-selective inversion or spin-echo refocussing of nuclear pins in two orthogonal dimensions. The two-dimensional spatially-selective pulse utilizes a single RF pulse, with either a square of an amplitude-modulated or a frequency-modulated envelope, and applied in the presence of an amplitude-modulated magnetic field gradient which reorients through the desired dimensions in which selection is desired while the RF pulse is present. These rotating, or ".rho.", pulses are useful for reduction of aliasing signal artifacts is restricted field-of-view high-resolution NMR imaging and, when combined with one-dimensional-localized chemical shift spectroscpoy techniques (such as those employing surface detection coils) is especially useful for the production of three-dimensionally localized NMR spectra. Substantial suppression of undesirable residual excited signals, arising from outside the desired two-dimensional spatially selected region, can be obtained by simulated annealing optimization of both the RF and magnetic field gradient amplitude portions of the .rho. pulse and/or by use of surface coil detection. The location of the selected volume is varied by frequency modulation of the RF signal pulse, or by variation of the ratio of currents in the halves of the magnetic field gradient coils.

摘要: A system for fertilizing a large area. The system may include a fluid bar configured to be towed by a tractor. The fluid bar may include a fluid passageway with at least one aperture and a sensor or meter in communication with the aperture. The aperture may be configured to receive a hose or other attachment distributing fluid to the ground. The system may include a tank, a pump, pump controller and a filter. The pump flow rate and the outlet flow rate may be displayed on monitoring equipment located within a cab of the tractor. The pump controller may be used by the farmer to variably adjust the fluid pressure in each aperture and consequently adjust the flow pressure of fertilizer added to the ground.

摘要: A contact originator is given a choice to enqueue the contact in multiple contact queues, to serve multiple needs or interests of the originator. If the contact reaches the head of the queue for the primary need while the contact is being serviced from a queue for a secondary need, the contact either remains at the head of the primary-need queue until the servicing at the secondary-need queue is completed, or a resource of the primary-need queue is conferenced in with the contact and the resource of the secondary-need queue so that the resources can serve both needs simultaneously.

摘要: An ultrasound transducer array (408) includes at least one transducer element (412) having a first (604) and second (606) portions separated by an acoustical discontinuity (520). The first portion (604) has the desired length to form a half-wave k31 resonance, while the second portion (606) has a resonant length for an undesired very low frequency out-of-band k31 resonance. The thickness of the transducer element (412) is designed for k33 half-resonance. Given the design, the transducer element (412) can operate and provide for both forward-looking (514) and side looking (512) elevation apertures. A method is also disclosed for using the disclosed ultrasound transducer (412) in ultrasound imaging.

摘要: Methods and systems for measuring mechanical property of a vascular wall and a method and system for determining health of a vascular structure are provided wherein local deformation of a vessel wall resulting from physiologic pressures with altered transmural forces is measured. A non-invasive free-hand ultrasound scanning-procedure was performed to apply external force, comparable to the force generated in measuring a subject's blood pressure, to achieve higher strains by equalizing the internal arterial baseline pressure. When the applied pressure matched the internal baseline diastolic pressure, strain and strain rate increased by a factor of 10 over a cardiac cycle. Radial arterial strain was assessed in the vessel wall over the entire deformation procedure using a phase-sensitive, two-dimensional speckle-tracking algorithm. An elastic modulus reconstruction procedure was developed to estimate the non-linear elastic properties of the vascular wall.

摘要: An optical communication system for ultrasound imaging systems employs a light source and photodetector array in the imaging console. The light source and photodetector array are coupled to each other through an optical fiber passing through the probe. Information from the probe is communicated to the console by an optical modulator, situated in the optical path from source to detector. The ultrasound signals are converted into electrical signals by probe electronics, and these electrical signals serve to alter either the phase or amplitude of optical signals passing through the modulator. Since the light source and photodetectors reside in the imaging console, very little power is dissipated in the probe.

摘要: A method for imaging a sample with a beam of vibratory energy from an array of transducers excites the array with successive ones of a plurality M of coded excitation signal sets with each set occurring in a different one of successive excitation time intervals. Each different set has signals with a different code. An excitation beam, produced by the array, is focused into the sample at successively smaller distances, along a selected ray path from the array, during each successive excitation time interval. A reception beam is focused along the ray path at successively greater distances from a minimum distance away from the array during each successive one of a like plurality of reception time intervals, for receiving, during each reception time interval, return response signals reflected from the sample. The received signals are processed and all channels are coherently summed prior to cross-correlating the summed signals with reference signals derived from the coded signals of the set used for the associated excitation time interval, to recover a response signal substantially only from a volume of the sample at that distance associated with each time interval. Apparatus for implementing this method is disclosed.
