摘要: A portable air filter system is described for use in the home, offices, or other areas where it is desired to remove airborne particulate matter from the air. The air filter system includes an enclosure having an air inlet and outlet areas, removable air filter which is grounded, a fan for moving air from the inlet to the outlet through the filter, and an ionizer for supplying negative ions to the air exiting through the outlet. The filter includes electrostatically charged fibrous material in a removable cartridge.

摘要: Effective and efficient multi-vendor labor rate negotiations are supported by using a minimization algorithm to provide an optimized total cost of staffing allocation. Critical impact factors are also provided to identify specific labor categories or other vendor attributes that have the greatest impact on the total staffing allocation cost. By varying the elements identified by the critical impact factors and using the computer-implemented optimization algorithm, real-time changes are available to the vendors to assist in the negotiations of services contract agreements.

摘要: A method and system for modifying the pulse width modulation frequency for controlling the backlit illumination intensity of a liquid crystal display. The modified pulse width modulation frequency may be selected to reduce distortion in the display while allowing for a wide range of dimming settings for the display. A pulse width modulation signal may be also be phase shifted such that a string of light sources may be sequentially activated to generate a effective frequency greater than that of the frequency of the pulse width modulation signal.

摘要: Disclosed are systems and methods correction of spinal deformity that overcome current limitations by utilizing a dynamic, multi-segment torso orthosis that allows motion during wear. The disclosed embodiments utilize a series of elastically coupled segments that conform to the circumference of the torso of a patient. Adjustable elastic coupling mechanisms are utilized to create and alter forces and moments that are applied to the torso through the segments. These elastic coupling mechanisms also allows each circumferential segment to move relative to the other segments giving the brace dynamic capability.

摘要: The disclosed embodiments provide a system that configures a battery for a computer system. During operation, the system disconnects the battery by simulating a fault condition using a safety circuit of the battery. The fault condition may be simulated to facilitate safe assembly of a computer system containing the battery. After assembly is complete, the system enables use of the battery in the computer system by applying external power to the computer system, which resets the safety circuit and reconnects the battery.
