    摘要: A battery cell cooler containing a pair of complementary plates. The pair of complementary plates together forms a tubular flow passage and one or more tubular sections. The flow passage has an inlet end, an outlet end and dimples or ribs along the length of the flow passage. The one or more tubular sections have an inlet duct and an outlet duct, the inlet duct being coupled to an expanded receptacle at the inlet end and in fluid communication with the inlet end of the flow passage and the outlet duct being coupled to an expanded receptacle, at the outlet end and in fluid communication with the outlet end of the flow passage. Also, disclosed is a device containing a battery cell sandwiched between a pair of battery cell coolers, as described herein. Further disclosed is a method for forming the battery cell cooler, as described herein.

    摘要: A mounting or end bracket is disclosed for producing plate and fin heat exchangers of the type having a plurality of stacked, hollow plate pairs or tubes including mating end bosses having communicating openings formed therein to form a manifold for the flow of fluid through the plate pairs or tubes. Fins are located between and at the top end bottom of the stacked plate pairs or tubes extending between the end bosses. End fittings are used for the inlet and outlet of fluid to the plate pairs or tubes. The mounting brackets allow the end fittings to be positioned where desired to define different flow circuits through the plate pairs, and also allow different size end fittings to be used, without having to use special spacers, different size fins or specially shaped plates to accommodate the different end fittings. The mounting brackets have a planar central portion and opposed offset end portions located in a plane parallel to and spaced from the central portion. The central portion has spacing projections extending transversely in a direction opposite to that of the opposite end portions. Different fitting sizes are accommodated simply by changing the height of the spacing projections.

    摘要: A heat exchanger comprises at least one tube or plate pair defining a fluid flow passage which is reduced in height across a portion of its width. A turbulizer comprising a plurality of rows of convolutions is received inside the fluid flow passage in either the low pressure drop or high pressure drop orientation. The turbulizer includes convolutions of reduced height in order to at least partially fill the reduced-height portions of the fluid flow passage and thereby reduce bypass flow. In some preferred embodiments of the invention, heat exchanger tubes or plate pairs define fluid flow passages which are reduced in height along their edges, and the turbulizer is similarly reduced in height along its edges.

    摘要: A method for forming heat exchanger plates comprises formation of a fluid flow channel along the edges of a sheet metal strip or blank, and formation of a pair of raised end bosses. The raised end bosses are elongated in the longitudinal dimension and are formed within the final width dimension of the plate so as to avoid the need for trimming of excess material along the edges of the plate. The method generates less scrap than prior art processes using progressive stamping, and also permits variation of the plate lengths.
