摘要： Solutions of ethylene-propylene copolymers grafted with vinyl containing monomers, maleic anhydride or ethylenically unsaturated acids including functionalized derivatives thereof, reacted with polyols, polyamines and hydroxamines, as well as hydrogenated butadiene or isoprene copolymers, which solutions have haze-forming tendencies in mineral oil and are generally useful as multifunctional lubricating oil additives, are reduced in haze-forming tendencies by treatment with 0.5 to 25 wt. % of an alkyl hydroxy benzene compound, such as nonyl or dodecyl phenol.

摘要： A method for manufacturing a lubricating grease having improved properties is described. The method comprises reacting a pyrrolidone with a fatty amine and subsequently adding a metal hydroxide to the reaction when the unreacted fatty amine content ranges between about 33 and about 66 wt. % of the fatty amine originally added. The grease thus formed will be a NLGI #0 grade grease that has the high temperature stay-in-place properties of a NGLI #2 grade grease.

摘要： Hydrocarbon polymers such as ethylene copolymers may be reacted with unsaturated nitrogen-containing monomers or unsaturated carboxylic acids in a synthetic hydrocarbon lubricating oil in the presence of a free radical initiator such as a peroxide. The copolymer grafted directly with the nitrogen-containing monomers may be utilized as an additive for oil compositions, particularly lubricating oil compositions as a V.I.-dispersant additive. The polymer reacted with carboxylic acid may be further reacted with amines or amino-alcohols to also form a multifunctional V.I.-dispersant additive.
