    Abstract: This invention relates to a novel one-pot process for polyolefin modification to form long-chain branched polymers containing polar functional groups, and the long-chain branched polymer resulting from the process. The process comprises reacting the following components (a) through (d) in a one pot process to form a long-chain branched polyolefin. Component (a) is a polyolefin; component (b) includes one or more silane compounds having the formula R″SiRnR′(3-n), component (c) is an ethylenically unsaturated polycarboxylic acid; and component (d) is a free radical initiator. In the formula R″SiRnR′(3-n) for component (b), R″ is an ethylenically or acetylenically unsaturated radical; R is a hydrolyzable group selected from the group consisting of an alkoxy, acyloxy, alkylamino, and arylamino; R′ is a hydrocarbyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms; and n is 1, 2, or 3.

    Abstract: An object of the invention is to provide modified polyolefin particles which have a satisfactory amount of grafting and a sufficient molecular weight, are substantially free from gels, and exhibit excellent handleability and workability when shaped or mixed with various resins. The particles include a modified polyolefin obtained by grafting a monomer having an ethylenically unsaturated group and a polar functional group in the same molecule to a polymer including one, or two or more α-olefins selected from C2-18 α-olefins and having a melting point of not less than 50° C. and less than 250° C., the modified polyolefin particles satisfying the following requirements (1) to (3): (1) the amount of grafting x by the monomer having an ethylenically unsaturated group and a polar functional group in the same molecule is not less than 0.5 wt % and not more than 20 wt %; (2) the amount of grafting x (wt %) and the intrinsic viscosity [i](dl/g) measured in decalin at 135° C. satisfy the relation: log10[η]≧0.1−0.15x; and (3) the particles have a gel content of less than 1 wt %.

    Abstract: A graft copolymer having a structure in which a vinyl copolymer segment formed from a vinyl monomer having an acid is suspended in a molecular chain of a polyolefin resin segment via a β-substituted propylene group is obtained, by reaction of polyolefin resin having β-substituted propenyl group as a pendant and a vinyl monomer having an acid, and further a graft copolymer composition containing the same and a molded product thereof are obtained.The obtained graft copolymer, the composition containing the same and the molded product thereof are excellent in adhesive property to a polar material and scratch resistance.
