    摘要: A composition comprises 20 to 80 wt. % of a polyester component comprising a modified polybutylene terephthalate random copolymer derived from a polyethylene terephthalate component selected from polyethylene terephthalate and polyethylene terephthalate copolymers and having at least one residue derived from the polyethylene terephthalate component; from 5 to 35 wt. % of a flame retardant phosphinate (I) or (II) (R1)(R2)(PO)—O]−mMm+   (I) [(O—POR1)(R3)(POR2—O)]2−nMm+x,   (II) and/or a flame retardant polymer thereof, wherein R1 and R2 are independently are H, C1-C6-alkyl, or C6-C10-aryl; R3 is C1-C10, alkylene, C6-C10-arylene, -alkylarylene or -arylalkylene; M is an alkaline earth metal, alkali metal, Al, Ti, Zn, Fe, or boron; m is 1, 2, 3 or 4; n is 1, 2, or 3; and x is 1 or 2; 1 to 25 wt. % of a melamine polyphosphate, melamine cyanurate, melamine pyrophosphate, and/or melamine phosphate; and more than 0 to 25 wt. % of a polyetherimide.

    摘要: Disclosed is a method for the preparation of polymeric phosphate flame retardants with a molecular weight of at least about 1500 and a softening temperature of at least about 10° C. comprising the steps of (a) reacting a phosphorus oxyhalide with a monohydroxyaromatic compound, (b) removing substantially all of any remaining phosphorus oxyhalide; (c) reacting the monoaryldichlorophosphate product with a dihydroxyaromatic compound and (d) reacting the product of step (c) with a monohydroxyaromatic compound. The solid polymeric flame retardant has a linear structure and less than 10 ppm halogen bound to phosphorus. Also disclosed are resinous compositions comprising the solid polymeric phosphate made by the method of the invention and at least one other polymeric resin.

    摘要: A polyester composition includes a poly(butylene terephthalate), a nitrogen-containing flame retardant, and a phosphorus-containing flame retardant, such that the weight ratio of the total of the nitrogen-containing flame retardant and the phosphorus-containing flame retardant to poly(butylene terephthalate resin) is at least about 0.70, and the weight ratio of the phosphorus-containing flame retardant to the nitrogen-containing flame retardant is at least about 1.0. The compositions have excellent color stability under ultraviolet light aging, good flame retardance, and high impact strength.

    摘要: A thermoplastic molding composition comprises a resin composition having 50 to about 90 weight percent of a polyester, about 8 to about 48 weight percent of a polyetherimide, about 2 to about 25 weight percent of a high rubber graft impact modifier, each based on the total resin composition, and up to about 15 weight percent of a particulate filler. A method of making the composition comprises pre-melt compounding a polyester, a polyetherimide, and a high rubber graft impact modifier to form a pre-compounded blend, wherein the pre-compounded blend has a Tg of greater than or equal to about 110° C.; and dry-blending a crystallized polyester with the pre-compounded blend to form the molding composition. Such molding compositions are particularly useful in blow-molding containers for liquids such as beer.
