Abstract:
The present disclosure presents aspects for managing performance of a wireless network. For example, the aspects may include identifying a backhaul condition at a small cell in the wireless network wherein the backhaul condition is associated with one or more of a backhaul latency measurement, a backhaul error rate, or a backhaul jitter value at the small cell and triggering an action at the small cell in response to identifying the backhaul condition at the small cell, wherein triggering the action at the small cell includes modifying one or more resource management parameters at the small cell based on the backhaul condition. As such, performance of a wireless network may be managed.
Abstract:
A timer parameter used for transitioning between radio protocol states is adapted based on a change of a handover parameter. For example, as a direct result of a change in a handover parameter such as time-to-trigger, offset, or hysteresis, an inactivity timer that is used for switching an access terminal from a connected state to an idle state may be adapted. As another example, as a direct result of a change in a handover parameter, a radio link failure (RLF) timer that is used for switching an access terminal to an RLF state may be adapted.
Abstract:
Range tuning for open access small cells may be achieved, for example, by determining a likelihood of handoff for a mobile device around a small cell coverage area, and adjusting a range of the small cell coverage area by controlling a transmit power level of the small cell based on the likelihood of handoff.
Abstract:
Confusion associated with a physical layer identifier is detected and action taken to address this confusion. In some aspects, confusion detection involves determining whether signals such as beacons or pilots that are associated with the same physical layer identifier are also associated with different timing (e.g., different observed time difference (OTD) values). In some aspects, confusion detection involves determining whether an inordinate number of handover failures is associated with a particular physical layer identifier. In some aspects, the action taken upon detecting physical layer identifier confusion involves ensuring that an access terminal is not handed over to an access point that uses that physical layer identifier. In some aspects, the action taken upon detecting physical layer identifier confusion involves resolving the confusion.
Abstract:
Aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for bandwidth expansion in channel co-existence situations. An example method generally includes determining information regarding loading of at least one of downlink (DL) or uplink (UL traffic at a first base station that can share at least some bandwidth with at least one neighbor base station, and modifying bandwidth of one or more channels used by the first base station based, at least in part, on the loading information.
Abstract:
A method of initiating handover preparation of a subset of a plurality of cells in a wireless communication network for a mobile device includes determining a first set of candidate cells of the plurality of cells in the wireless communication network. In one aspect, the method includes obtaining one or more of backhaul performance data, historical mobility data, or historical handover data and adding at least one candidate cell of the first set of candidate cells to the subset of cells based on the one or more data. The method then includes generating and sending a handover request message from the serving cell to each of the cells included in the subset of cells to initiate handover preparation of the mobile device from the serving cell.
Abstract:
The present disclosure presents a method and an apparatus for hybrid management of handovers in a self organizing network. For example, the disclosure presents a method for transmitting, via a transmitting component at the base station, handover signaling data from the base station to a network entity, wherein the base station is one of a plurality of base stations transmitting handover signaling data to the network entity, receiving, at the base station, feedback associated with one or more handover parameters of the base station, wherein the feedback is received from the network entity and includes an indication of an amount of handover signaling data generated by the base station or the plurality of base stations, and updating the one or more handover parameters based on the feedback received and local information available at the base station. As such, hybrid management of handover in a self organizing network may be achieved.
Abstract:
Disclosed are systems and methods for dynamic power regulation in small cells. In one aspect, a system is configured to determining at least one mobility metric indicative of at least one access terminal mobility at the cell. The system then configured to determine whether the value of mobility metric is acceptable. When the value of mobility metric is unacceptable, the system is configured to increase the transmit power of the cell until the value of mobility metric becomes acceptable. If the value of mobility metric does not become acceptable after increasing the transmit power of the cell above a threshold, the system is configured to decrease the transmit power of the cell.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided in connection with making UE handover decisions. In one example, a node is equipped to obtain one or more UE measurement values associated with a UE, determine a mobility state of the UE based at least in part on the obtained one or more UE measurement values, and adjust one or more handover parameters based at least in part on the determined mobility state of the UE. In another example, a UE is equipped to obtain one or more UE measurements, determine a handover state of a UE based on the obtained one or more UE measurements, and perform a handover-related action based on the determined handover state of the UE.
Abstract:
The present disclosure presents methods and apparatuses for improved paging area identifier selection in low power base stations. In some examples described in the present disclosure, a method is provided for updating a paging area identifier, which may include observing one or more parameters of signals received in a wireless network, updating a previously selected paging area identifier to a new paging area identifier based at least in part on the one or more parameters, and transmitting the new paging area identifier. In addition, example methods are provided for paging devices in a wireless network, which may include determining a paging area identifier related to a last known low power base station for a device, determining a plurality of low power base stations using the paging area identifier, and causing the plurality of low power base stations to transmit a paging signal for the device.
