Abstract:
Techniques are provided which may be implemented using various methods and/or apparatuses in a mobile device to request a transport vehicle. Techniques are provided which may be implemented using various methods and/or apparatuses in a transport vehicle to respond to a request from a mobile device. Various embodiments include customer and transport authentication and security techniques. Various embodiments include location update techniques to enable a transport vehicle to navigate to a mobile device, even in areas of low position accuracy for traditional GNSS and terrestrial transceiver-based systems.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for managing activities among collocated mobile devices include means for determining a set of tasks to be performed collectively by the two or more collocated mobile devices while collocated and during a period of time in the future, the two or more collocated devices being configured to communicate with one another; means for assigning a first task of the set of tasks to be performed by a first mobile device of the two or more collocated mobile devices; and means for assigning a second task of the set of tasks to be performed by a second mobile device of the two or more collocated mobile devices; wherein the first mobile device and the second mobile device are different from one another with regard to at least one subsystem, and are each capable of performing the first task and the second task.
Abstract:
A method of organizing positioning assistance data includes: determining that first access points are more likely to be used for determining a position of a mobile device than second access points, the first and second access points being members of a master group of access points, at least the first access points being access points from each of which at least one signal has been received by the mobile device; storing first sets of positioning assistance data, associated with the first access points, in a first cache; and storing second sets of positioning assistance data, associated with the second access points, in a second cache; where the first cache has a quicker access rate than the second cache.
Abstract:
Systems, apparatus and methods for a mobile device and a base station almanac server to throttle crowdsourcing information are presented. The crowdsourcing information may be used to improve a location of a base station in a base station almanac. A base station almanac is received from a base station almanac server. Crowdsourcing information for at least one base station is collected, including identifying an identifier for each base station and determining a position estimate of the mobile device for each base station. A crowdsourcing throttle is determined based on the base station almanac and the crowdsourcing information is sent to the base station almanac server based on the crowdsourcing throttle.
Abstract:
A method for assisting a mobile device to perform positioning measurements on positioning signals periodically transmitted by at least some of a plurality of cells in a wireless communication network includes determining an estimated position of the mobile device and then determining a first set of candidate cells of the plurality of cells based on the estimated position of the mobile device. The method also includes estimating an expected interference of each respective positioning signal that is transmitted by each candidate cell of the first set and selecting a subset of cells from the first set of candidate cells based on the estimated expected interference. Assistance data identifying the selected subset of cells is then generated and sent to the mobile device.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus are described for providing location assistance information to a mobile device. An example of a method for providing location assistance information to the mobile device by a femto base station includes receiving a macro base station signal during a monitoring time period during which the femto base station is substantially stationary, obtaining location assistance information, the location assistance information being based, at least in part, on the received macro base station signal, and transmitting the location assistance information to the mobile device.
Abstract:
Method, device, and computer program product that may improve communications between a mobile device and an access point device are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method of communicating between a mobile device and an access point device comprises control a plurality of beacons in the access point device, establishing a communication between the access point device with the mobile device using a first beacon in the plurality of beacons, broadcasting availability of the plurality of beacons in the access point device via the first beacon, and establishing the communication with the mobile device using a second beacon in the plurality of beacons.
Abstract:
Techniques for transferring trust between networks are described herein. An example of a method of using a mobile device to transfer trust between networks described herein includes receiving WAN base station information including a WAN base station trustworthiness value, determining a WAN position estimate for the mobile device based on the WAN base station information, receiving access point information including an access point trustworthiness value, determining an access point position estimate for the mobile device based on the access point information, determining if the WAN position estimate and the access point position estimate are corroborated, and increasing the access point trustworthiness value if the WAN position estimate and the access point position estimate are corroborated and the WAN base station trustworthiness value is higher than the access point trustworthiness value.
Abstract:
Various techniques are provided that may be implemented at one or more of a plurality of co-located mobile devices. For example, a first mobile device may identify a plurality of location determination tasks, transmit a request indicative of a subset of the plurality of location determination tasks to be performed by a second mobile device, and receive a response to the request.
