摘要: An inhaler for producing an inhalable aerosol of powdered medicament is disclosed. The inhaler includes an aerosolising device having a chamber of substantially circular cross-section, inlet and outlet ports at opposite ends of the chamber for the flow of drug laden air through the chamber between said ports and, a bypass air inlet for the flow of clean air into the chamber. The bypass air inlet is configured so that air entering the chamber through said inlet forms a cyclone in the chamber that interacts with the drug laden air flowing between the inlet and outlet ports.

摘要: An inhaler comprising a housing to receive a strip having a plurality of blisters, each blister having a puncturable lid and containing a dose of medicament for inhalation by a user, a mouthpiece through which a dose of medicament is inhaled by a user, a cap to cover the mouthpiece and, a blister piercing element to pierce the lid of a blister is disclosed. The cap is rotatable to drive the strip to sequentially move each blister into alignment with the blister piercing element and an actuator is operable in response to rotation of the cap to cause the blister piercing element to puncture the lid of an aligned blister such that, when a user inhales through the mouthpiece, an airflow through the blister is generated to entrain the dose contained therein and carry it out of the blister and via the mouthpiece into the user's airway.

摘要: An inhaler (1) including a blister strip (2) is proposed. The unused blister strip is stored in a spiral (16). After use, the blister strip is conveyed into another spiral (17). Both spirals share a common space within the inhaler and may be separated by a loose guiding element (18). The spirals and the guiding element may comprise protrusions (19) to reduce sliding friction. Additionally or alternatively, a lubricant (31) may be used to reduce friction.

摘要: A powder inhaler includes a container for storing powdered medicament. A metering member has a dosing recess and is moveable between a filling position in which the dosing recess is in alignment with an opening of the container, and an inhalation position in which it is in alignment with an inhalation channel. A mouthpiece is in communication with the inhalation channel for enabling inhalation of the dose of powdered medicament when in the inhalation position. A protective member provided between the metering member and the inhalation channel is moveable between a closed position in which the protective member covers the dosing recess, thereby preventing powdered medicament contained in the dosing recess from entering the inhalation channel, and an open position in which the protective member does not cover the dosing recess, thereby exposing the dosing recess to the inhalation channel for enabling inhalation of the dose of the powdered medicament.

摘要: A method of coiling a strip of blisters for insertion into an inhalation device is disclosed. The method includes the steps of taking a preformed strip of blisters in which each blister contains a dose of medicament for inhalation by a user, manipulating the strip to impart a continuous curvature or a series of discrete creases to the strip; that allow the strip to form into a coiled shape. A strip which has been coiled according to the method is also disclosed, as is an inhalation device incorporating means for coiling a strip of blisters according to the invention.
