    摘要: Equipment and methods for aligning the antennas of two transceivers of a point-to-point wireless millimeter wave communications link and keeping them aligned. Each of two communicating antennas is equipped with a telescopic camera connected to a processor programmed to recognize landscape images. The processors are programmed to remember the pattern of the landscape as it appears when the antennas are aligned. Each of the cameras then view the landscape periodically or continuously and if the landscape in view changes by more than a predetermined amount a signal is provided to indicate a misalignment. An operator can then take corrective action or alternatively the antenna system can be configured for remote or automatic realignment based of feedback from the camera. In a preferred embodiment, the antennas are initially aligned by substituting a narrow band oscillator power source for the signal transmitting electronics associated with a first antenna and a power detector is substituted for the signal receiving electronics of associated with a second antenna.

    摘要: A thermal radiating system particularly suited for use in space applications is provided with a high ratio of heat transfer to weight and a thin and light weight construction. The radiator includes heat pipes that are spaced to minimize damage from micrometeorites and through which a heat transfer medium is circulated from a heat generating source. Graphite fibers are used for their small mass per unit area and are preferably of a heat treated type having a substantially improved thermal conductivity over conventional graphite fibers. The graphite fibers are associated with the heat pipes and constitute the principal radiating surface of the system. In one embodiment, the graphite fibers are disposed in substantially parallel, co-planar relationship with respect to each other and in substantially perpendicular relationship to their associated heat pipe, thus giving the radiator in the array the appearance of a comb. In a second embodiment, the graphite fibers are in the form of a belt that is entrained about two rotatable heat pipes.

The tracking system further includes a cable serially wrapped around each of the respective circular rims to form a closed cable loop where the wrapped cable forms a series of a generally vertical coplanar loops with each loop contacting around a respective rim structure such that at least one generally complete gripping loop is formed on each respective rim. An actuator is attached to the frame structure such that actuator provides a controllable driving force to the closed cable loop to allow for controlled rotation of each solar collector assembly around its respective longitudinal axis.

    摘要: Apparatus and method for converting heat to electrical energy by the use of one or more capacitors having temperature dependent capacitance. The capacitor is cycled between relatively high and relatively low temperatures by successive thermal contact with relatively high and relatively low temperature portions of a heat transfer medium having a temperature gradient therein. Upon heating of the capacitor, the capacitance thereof is reduced, so that a charge therein is caused to expand into associated external circuitry in which it is available to do electrical work. The capacitor is then cooled and recharged and the cycle is repeated. The electrical output of the capacitor results from the regenerative delivery of heat to and removal of heat from the capacitor by the heat transfer medium, and efficient conversion of heat to electric energy is thereby effected.
