摘要: Disposable liquid absorbent mats are described. The mats generally include at least a liquid absorbent layer and a liquid impervious layer. The liquid absorbent layer may be made from a tissue web, a hydroentangled web, an airlaid web, a coform web, and the like. The liquid impervious layer, on the other hand, may comprise a meltspun web, a film, a hydroentangled web, or even a tissue web that has been treated with a sizing agent that renders the web resistant to fluid flow. In one embodiment, the mats can be made so as to have a relatively low caliper so that the mats can be spirally wound into a roll. In other embodiments, however, the mats may be packaged in a stacked arrangement. The mats have various uses and applications. For instance, the mats are well suited for use during food preparation. The mats are well suited to absorbing fluids while preventing the fluids from striking through the product. In some embodiments, the mats are also well suited to serve as an absorbent and cut resistant surface. An added benefit is the addition of a layer of polymer to the bottom side of the film to achieve non-slip feature to an absorbent and cut resistant food prep mat.

摘要: A gradient material comprising at least two types of nanofibers distributed non-uniformly throughout the material to form one or more gradients is provided. In one embodiment, the at least two types of nanofibers intertwine to form a single layer of material, i.e., are at least partially physically intertwined, i.e., entangled with one another in a multi-component material. Such intertwining can occur when both types of nanofibers are deposited substantially simultaneously in an overlapping region. In another embodiment, the at least two types of nanofibers combine to form a plurality of layers. The nanofibers can be electrospun fibers. The material can have a gradient in the planar and/or thickness directions. Embodiments of the invention also provide processes for producing the gradient nanofiber material. The materials are useful for any type of disposable garment, wipe, hospital garment, face mask, sterile wrap, air filter, water filter and so forth. Materials described herein can provide strong and varying surface effects, such as wicking. In one embodiment, hydrophobic fibers have a sufficiently small diameter to create a lotus effect.

摘要: In one example embodiment, the applicator includes a base that has a first section, a second section and a weakened section which is between the first and second sections. The applicator further includes a first bladder and a second bladder. The first bladder is connected to a first outlet and the second bladder is connected to a second outlet. The first and second bladders are positioned on one side of the base such that neither of the first and second bladders overlaps the weakened section of the base. The applicator further includes a first material that is stored within the first bladder and a second material that is stored within the second bladder. When the base is folded at the weakened section, the first and second sections of the base force the materials from the first and second bladders through the respective first and second outlets.

摘要: An absorbent article is provided that includes an electroactive display. The electroactive display may include an electrochromic composition positioned between two electrodes. The electroactive display is configured to create and exhibit an image that contains active features such as moving graphics or color-changing objects. For instance, the electroactive display may display an animated cartoon character or a moving vehicle. The electroactive display may also create symbols or words. When combined with sensors, a power source, and the proper circuitry, the electroactive display may be used, for instance, as a wetness indicator or to indicate the presence of a particular substance. In other embodiments, the electroactive display may be used solely for aesthetic purposes.

摘要: Deactivating a data tag attached to packaging for user privacy or tamper-evident reasons. Each of a plurality of data tags stores identification information. At least one of the data tags is removable and capable of wireless signal transmission at a first range such that removal of the data tag substantially prevents communication of the identification information via the removed data tag and permits communication of the identification information via another data tag at a second range relatively smaller than the first range.

摘要: Absorbent products are disclosed comprised of multiple components. At least two of the components are adhered together using an adhesive. In accordance with the present invention, the adhesive is applied in between the components according to a non-uniform pattern that varies as a function of distance. For example, the adhesive pattern may change according to at least one of pattern breadth or adhesive dose in weight per unit area. In one particular embodiment, the pattern contains a swirl-like pattern containing a plurality of loops. Over a particular distance, a change may occur in the size of the loops, in the density of the loops, and/or in alternating between loops and a linear bead. In this manner, placement of the adhesive is carefully controlled in order to counteract mechanical stresses that are placed on the absorbent product during use.

摘要: The present invention discloses a disposable scrubbing product for use in household cleaning or personal care applications. In one embodiment, the present invention is directed to a cleaning tool including a handle and a rigid base to which the scrubbing product of the present invention may be attached to form a convenient cleaning tool. The scrubbing product of the invention is a multi-layer laminate product and generally includes at least two distinct layers, an abrasive layer and an absorbent fibrous layer such as a tissue layer made from papermaking fibers. The abrasive layer is formed primarily of polymeric fibers in a disordered or random distribution as is typical of fibers deposited in meltblown or spunbond processes so as to form an open, porous structure. In one embodiment, an anchoring agent, such as synthetic fibers, are incorporated into the tissue layer that form a bond with the abrasive layer when forming a laminate in accordance with the present invention.
