摘要: A neutral lock mechanism for a direction and speed control pedal. Forward or down-toe motion on the pedal produces forward movement of a vehicle and rear, or down-heel, motion produces rear movement, while increased displacement of the pedal in either direction will produce an increase in speed. The neutral lock mechanism includes a latch pivotally connected to the pedal and spring loaded to a latching position in which the latch will engage the floor plate of the vehicle and prevent pivotal movement of the pedal. A lever is connected to the latch and projects upwardly through an opening in the pedal. The operator's foot, when in a normal operating position, will depress the lever and release the latch while mere accidental engagement of the operator's foot with the pedal will not release the latch and will retain the pedal in the neutral lock position.

摘要: A shift interlock mechanism for automatically shifting a sod cutter into a low gear when a cutting blade is lowered into the ground and automatically raising the cutting blade when the sod cutter is shifted into a high gear. The mechanism may include a cutting blade lever. The cutting blade lever may include a cam member which engages the shift lever creating cam action when the cutting blade handle is raised to the up position. When the cutting blade lever is moved to lower the cutting blade, the cam member moves the shift lever into a low gear. When the cutting blade handle is in the up position and the cutting blade has been lowered, the shift lever will oppose the cam member and create an opposite cam action, thereby raising the blade, when the shifter is moved into a high gear.

摘要: A system such as one for detecting when a hydraulic fluid system adapted to a turf care machine, has developed a leak and to warn the machine operator of such a leak before an appreciable amount of hydraulic fluid is allowed to leak from the system. The system includes a reservoir for holding a quantity of hydraulic fluid. The reservoir is connected via a connecting tube or hose to an expansion tank mounted adjacent to the reservoir. The expansion tank includes a fitting having an elongated tube extending down into the expansion tank. The end of this tube is maintained substantially below the level of hydraulic fluid in the expansion tank during operation of the turf care machine to which it is attached. As the machine is operated, the hydraulic fluid expands with rising temperature, and the connecting tube communicates the expanding fluid to the expansion tank. When operation of the machine is discontinued the hydraulic fluid contracts as it cools. As the hydraulic fluid contracts, the hydraulic fluid in the expansion tank, is automatically drawn by a siphoning action through the elongated tube within the expansion tank through the connecting tube and back into the reservoir. A float type fluid level sensor is provided and mounted to measure the level of hydraulic fluid within the expansion tank. The float level sensor sends an electronic signal corresponding to the fluid level in the expansion tank to a microcomputer based monitoring unit. The monitoring unit also senses the fluid temperature and interprets these electronic signals and, compensating for volumetric fluctuations due to the changing fluid temperature, and determines if conditions exist which indicate a hydraulic fluid leak exists. If such conditions exist, the monitoring unit produces a warning signal which is communicated to the vehicle operator.

摘要: The invention provides a rotary lawn mower with an improved mulching deck. The rotary lawn mower comprises a plurality of sets of cutting blades. Each of the blade sets includes a lower, leading blade and an upper, trailing blade. The lower blade has a leading cutting edge and an upwardly angled trailing edge. The upper trailing blade extends at an angle relative to the leading blade and has a leading cutting edge for cutting clippings deflected upwardly by the upwardly angled trailing edge of the leading blade. The lawn mower further comprises a mulching deck including a plastic, dent-resistant, rust-proof insert which is positioned in the deck. The insert provides correct air flow for mulching and a sound barrier for reduced noise. The insert defines a plurality of recesses. A blade set is mounted for rotation about an axis of each recess. The insert includes an integral, arcuate baffle extending downwardly adjacent the periphery of one of the recesses impeding air flow from the one recess to an adjacent recess. The insert also includes an integral projection in one of the left and right recesses such that the recess has a decreased height in the area of the projection. The projection prevents downward flow of air that would otherwise result from converging air from two adjacent blade sets. The lawn mower further comprises a front deflector removably mounted on the front portion of the deck side wall to allow venting of air but not discharge of clippings from the front of the deck.

摘要: Provided is a self-calibrating system which self-calibrates for operation regardless of the particular reservoir or expansion tank, which further detects when a hydraulic fluid system adapted to a turf care machine has developed a leak and which warns the machine operator of such a leak before an appreciable amount of hydraulic fluid is allowed to leak from the system. The system includes a reservoir for holding a quantity of hydraulic fluid. The reservoir is connected via a connecting tube or hose located at the upper-most portion of the reservoir and connected to an expansion tank mounted substantially adjacent to the reservoir. The expansion tank includes a fitting having an elongated tube extending down into the expansion tank. The end of this tube is maintained substantially below the level of hydraulic fluid in the expansion tank during operation of the turf care machine to which it is attached. As the machine is operated, the hydraulic fluid expands with rising temperatures, and the connecting tube communicates the expanding fluid to the expansion tank. When operation of the machine is discontinued the hydraulic fluid contracts as it cools. As the hydraulic fluid contracts, the hydraulic fluid in the expansion tank is automatically drawn by a siphoning action through the elongated tube within the expansion tank through the connecting tube and back into the reservoir. The self-calibrating leak detection system is adaptable to a variety of self propelled machines having hydraulically actuated devices. In particular, significant savings could be gained by the early detection of hydraulic system leaks on large, earth-moving equipment and the like. Further, the self-calibrating hydraulic fluid leak detection system may be retrofit onto existing hydraulic systems by the addition of an expansion tank to the hydraulic system reservoir.

摘要: A hydraulic fluid lead detection system which self-calibrates for operation regardless of the particular reservoir or expansion tank. A reservoir stores a quantity of hydraulic fluid and is connected via a connecting tube or hose located at the upper-most portion of the reservoir and connected to an expansion tank mounted substantially adjacent to the reservoir. An elongated tube extends down into the expansion tank. The end of this tube is maintained substantially below the level of hydraulic fluid in the expansion tank during operation of the turf care machine. During operation, the hydraulic fluid expands with rising temperatures, and the connecting tube communicates the expanding fluid to the expansion tank. A float type fluid level sensor measures the level of hydraulic fluid within the expansion tank and outputs an electronic signal corresponding to the fluid level in the expansion tank to the microcomputer based monitoring unit, which also senses the fluid temperature. The monitoring unit includes memory for storing a table of fluid temperatures versus fluid levels in the expansion tank stored during calibration of the system. During operation, the monitoring unit receives and interprets electronic signals from the float and temperature and compares the table values in memory to the values received from the float and temperature sensors to identify possible fluid leaks in the system.

摘要: A riding lawn care vehicle may include a frame, an engine, a steering assembly, a support platform and a front mount assembly. The frame may be attachable to a pair of front wheels and a rear wheel assembly of the riding lawn care vehicle. At least a portion of the engine may be mounted to the frame substantially between the front wheels. The steering assembly may include steering levers operably coupled to respective ones of the front wheels of the riding lawn care vehicle via respective hydrostatic drive pumps driven by the engine. The steering assembly may enable steering of the riding lawn care vehicle based on drive speed control of the front wheels responsive to positioning of steering levers of the steering assembly.

摘要: A turf care machine includes a base mounted on a plurality of wheels, a support structure affixed to and extending from the base for supporting a turf machine operator interface, and a hydraulic control system for regulating the speed and direction of the mower. The hydraulic system includes: an engine with a drive shaft; a single hydraulic pump driven by the engine; a first valve set having an inlet connected to the pump outlet; a first hydraulic wheel motor connected to the first valve set; a second valve set connected to the first valve set and to a second hydraulic wheel motor. This drive system has the advantage of using only one pump for driving both drive wheels in a seemingly independent dual path mode of operation, thereby minimizing cost and the number of fluid linkages and parts in such a system.
