    摘要: The present invention provides a novel method for determining the mechanical properties of the surfaces of materials including thin films. Generally, the method is comprised of laterally scanning the surface of the film with an array of cantilever tips varying temperature, load and time to obtain a measurement of mechanical properties, such as hardness and glass transition temperature. The method can be used to obtain mechanical properties of films that would otherwise be unobtainable using standard methods.

    摘要: A stable, non-agglomerating, magnetic recording coating ink, for use in coating a flexible non-magnetic substrate, is made by a two-step process which first mixes finely divided chromium dioxide particles with water and a polymeric surfactant/dispersant agent which has as its major functionality in a side chain, carboxylic acid, as a free acid, ester or amide thereof, and of a relatively low number average molecular weight in the range 500 to 20,000. Only after the particles are dispersed in this slurry is water-based polyurethane binder added to the slurry, as the second step in the process, to form the final ink.

    摘要: The proximal and distal parts of a golf club shaft that has been cut into two parts are pivotally interconnected to one another and are releasably lockable into any one of a plurality of different positions of angular adjustment by a device having a proximal end and a distal end that are interlockable to one another. The proximal end of the device includes a sleeve that nonreleasably receives the proximal end of the golf club shaft and the distal end of the device includes a sleeve that nonreleasably receives the distal end of the shaft. The device includes a middle part having a first face plate formed by the proximal end of the device and a second face plate formed by the distal end of the device. Radially disposed teeth formed in respective inner surfaces of the first and second face plates enable relative positioning of the face plates in multiple angular relations, and a projection formed on one of the face plates is received within a recess formed adjacent the other face plate and acts as a pointer that indicates a particular setting by pointing at an indicia imprinted adjacent the recess. Successive positions deloft the clubhead face and teach a user how to select irons and how to hold the hands and wrists when chipping and pitching.

    摘要: Flexible magnetic recording media having chromium dioxide magnetic particles dispersed in a polyester-polyurethane binder which is a reaction product of (A) a hydroxyl-terminated polyester which itself is a reaction product of a hydrolytically stable difunction alcohol (preferably 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol), (B) a chain extender (preferably 1,4-butanediol), and (C) an aromatic diisocyanate [preferably 4,4'-methylenebis (1,4-phenylene) diisocyanate (MDI)]. The proportions of (A), (B) and (C) are selected to produce a polyester polyurethane having a hard segment content in the range of 37 to 40 percent by weight, of a molecular weight above 60,000, with the soft segment molecular weight (M.sub.n) being in the range of about 500 to 1500.
