摘要： A polymerizable, liquid, substantially gel-free composition comprising a partially polymerized mixture of ethylenically unsaturated compounds wherein: (a) the mixture of ethylenically unsaturated compounds which was partially polymerized comprised a mixture of diethylene glycol (allyl carbonate) compounds each represented by Formula I: ##STR1## in which n is a positive integer, m is a positive integer, and the diethylene glycol (allyl carbonate) compound for which the value of n is 1 constituted from 25 to 75 area percent of the mixture of diethylene glycol (allyl carbonate) compounds; and (b) the ethylenic double bond utilization of the polymerizable, liquid, substantially gel-free composition is at least 3 percent. The polymerizable, liquid, substantially gel-free composition exhibits low shrinkage in the mold when polymerized.

摘要： The present invention is directed to a novel method of preparing a polymerizate, which includes the step of polymerizing a two-component composition, which includes: a first component containing at least one polycyanate reactant having at least two functional groups selected from isocyanate, isothiocyanate and combinations thereof, the polycyanate reactant being the reaction product of: a polythiol monomer having at least two thiol groups; and a polycyanate monomer having at least two functional groups selected from isocyanate, isothiocyanate and combinations thereof; and a second component containing at least one polyamine reactant having at least two functional groups selected from primary amine, secondary amine and combinations thereof. The molar equivalent ratio of (NCO+NCS) groups from the first component to (—NH2+—NH—) groups from the second component is from 0.5 to 100. The present invention is also directed to polymerizates prepared according to the method of the present invention. The present invention is further directed to photochromic articles that may be prepared from the polymerizates of the present invention.

The described polymerizable composition has reduced shrinkage, and a polymerizate prepared therefrom has a refractive index of at least 1.57 and an Abbe number of at least 33.

摘要： Describes a method of preparing a polymerizate by polymerizing a two-component organic composition comprising: a first component containing a polyfunctional reactant having two or more functional groups selected from isocyanate, isothiocyanate and combinations of isocyanate and isothiocyanate groups; and a second component containing a polythiol represented by the following general formula I, ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each selected from the group consisting of straight or branched chain alkylene, e.g., methylene and ethylene, cyclic alkylene, phenylene and C.sub.1 -C.sub.9 alkyl substituted phenylene. Polymerizates prepared according to the present invention are useful as ophthalmic lenses and have a refractive index of at least 1.57, an Abbe number of at least 33 and an initial Barcol hardness of at least 1. Also described are photochromic articles prepared from such polymerizates.

摘要： The present invention relates to a sulfur-containing polyureaurethane and a method of preparing the polyureaurethane. The sulfur-containing polyureaurethane has a refractive index of at least 1.57, an Abbe number of at least 32 and a density of less than 1.3 grams/cm3 when cured. The sulfur-containing polyureaurethane is prepared by the reaction of: (a) a sulfur-containing, isocyanate functional polyurethane prepolymer derived from: (i) a polyisocyanate; and (ii) a polythiol oligomer produced by the reaction of at least two or more different dienes with one or more dithiols and in certain embodiments at least one trifunctional or higher-functional polythiol; and (b) an amine-containing curing agent.
