摘要： A engine such as a gas turbine engine has a bladed rotor 24 having variable pitch blades 8. In normal operation, the pitch angle of the blades 8 is controlled by a primary pitch control system. A back-up system is provided for controlling the blades 8, for example to displace them to a feathered condition, in the event of failure of the primary pitch control system. The back-up system comprises a pump 32 mounted on the rotor 24, and driven by relative rotation between the rotor 24 and a contra-rotating rotor 23. In response to a failure signal on a conduit 48, the pump delivers hydraulic fluid under pressure to a secondary actuator 30, which acts on the blade 8.

摘要： In an optoelectronic assembly in which one or more beam paths are to be aligned with a corresponding number of active optical elements, the cooperation between flexible alignment features and fixed alignment features achieves elastic averaging so as to provide the target accuracy. By averaging dimensional and positional errors over a large number of localized couplings of the flexible and fixed alignment features, elastic averaging provides the same accuracy as the more costly and complex kinematic alignment techniques.

The sense electrode structure includes an arrangement of peripheral sense electrodes in a peripheral region surrounding a central sense electrode. The displaceable member is movable in an operational zone over the sense electrode structure. The displaceable member includes a target electrode facing the sense electrodes and overlapping at least a respective portion of the central sense electrode in each position of the displaceable member in the operational zone.

In one aspect, a diagnostic test system includes a housing, an indicator system, and a test unit in the housing. The indicator system produces a non-textual sensory output signal that is perceptible from an area outside the housing. The test unit performs at least one diagnostic test on a diagnostic assay to determine whether at least one analyte is present within a sample. The test unit also produces a status indicator control signal triggering the indicator system to indicate a status of the diagnostic test via the non-textual sensory output signal.

摘要： A sub-assembly or package for a die in the receiving section of an optical transceiver includes a semiconductor sub-mount that is electrically connected to the die and a cap that is bonded to the sub-mount to hermetically seal the die in a cavity. The die can be flip-chip bonded to the sub-mount and can include a diffractive optical element fabricated on a back side of the die. Active circuitry such as an amplifier for an output signal from a photosensor one the die can be integrated into the sub-mount. For an OSA, a post can be attached to the package along a path of an optical signal to the photosensor. The post facilitates alignment of an optical fiber. A flexible or rigid circuit can be soldered to external terminals of the sub-mount.
