    Abstract: A computer implemented method for localizing handheld analytical devices in a point of care environment is presented. The method comprises associating a location identifier to a plurality of locations within the point of care environment and storing the location identifier into a database, at each of the plurality of locations, capturing signal patterns using signal receiver(s) of the handheld analytical devices, storing all signal patterns captured in a database, capturing a current signal pattern using signal receiver(s) of a handheld analytical device to be localized, and providing a descriptive localization by a control unit indicative of its position relative to one or more of the plurality of locations within the point of care environment associated with one or more signal pattern(s) stored in the database matching the current signal pattern.

    Abstract: A hand-held device for measuring an analyte concentration in a sample of a body liquid includes a display means for displaying measured values; a measured-value storage for storing measured values; a measuring unit for generating measured values through measurements of the analyte concentration; a clock; a control unit for generating measured value datasets, each containing a measured value supplied by the measuring unit as well as the date and hour of the measurement by which the measured value was obtained, and for writing them into the measured-value storage; and operating elements that can be actuated by the user to set the clock, in which case the control unit will generate a time-correction dataset indicating the amount and direction of the setting effected. The control unit writes time-correction datasets into the measured-value storage so that a chronologically ordered sequence is generated containing time-correction datasets and measured value datasets.

    Abstract: A system for providing clinical decision support to a user is presented. The system comprises a Point-of-Care (POC) testing device comprising an integrated clinical decision support module. The POC testing device and the clinical decision support module are connected via a testing module-clinical decision support module interface. The system comprises a testing module between the user and the POC testing device. The testing module requests tests from the user to the POC testing device and sends completed test results from the POC testing device to the user and to the clinical decision support module via the internal interface. The system comprises outside data sources to provide external data via a communication connection to the clinical decision support module of the POC testing device. The clinical decision support module uses the external data and the completed test results to determine and provide clinical decision support information specifically tailored to the user.
