    摘要: An apparatus and method for providing treatment feedback relating to a patient undergoing therapeutic treatment of tissue during dynamic motion therapy are provided. The apparatus includes a platform configured to support a body of the patient; an oscillator connected to the platform and configured to impart an oscillating force at a predetermined frequency on the platform for transmitting mechanical vibration energy through the patient's body; and a processing device in operable communication with the platform for processing data related to the therapeutic treatment and for determining the amount of mechanical vibration energy transmitting through the patient's body. The apparatus further includes a treatment feedback indicator for indicating (e.g., displaying) the amount of mechanical vibration energy transmitting through the patient's body.

    摘要: Several embodiments of supplemental support structures for receiving a non-invasive dynamic motion therapy device are provided. The non-invasive dynamic motion therapy device provides vibrational treatment to patients suffering from postural instability and other conditions, such as cystic fibrosis, as well as paraplegic patients. The non-invasive dynamic motion therapy device is typically employed following a determination that vibrational treatment of a patient's musculoskeletal system and/or internal organs would produce a beneficial result. The supplemental support structures enable the patient to be supported on a vibrational table or unstable vibrating platform of the non-invasive dynamic motion therapy device during treatment.

    摘要: Systems and methods for therapeutically treating damaged tissues, bone fractures, osteopenia, or osteoporosis. Systems and methods according to various embodiments of the invention include an oscillating platform for therapeutically treating damaged tissues, bone fractures, osteopenia, osteoporosis, or other tissue conditions in a body. The oscillating platform supports a body. The oscillating platform includes an upper plate; a lower plate; a drive lever supported from the lower plate; a damping member in contact with the drive lever; and a distributing lever arm in contact with the upper plate. The drive lever actuates at a first predetermined frequency. Next, the damping member damps the actuation of the drive lever, creating an oscillating force at a second predetermined frequency. A portion of the oscillating force transfers from the damping member to the distributing lever arm. Then a portion of the oscillating force transfers from the distributing lever arm to the platform so that the body on the platform receives an oscillation at a frequency effective for treatment of damaged tissues, bone fractures, osteopenia, osteoporosis, or other tissue conditions.

    摘要: A non-invasive apparatus for dynamic motion therapy in a weightless environment include a vibration table having a non-rigidly supported platform for generating resonant vibration and for externally transferring vibrations to the musculoskeletal system, and ankle belts or other securing means to secure a person to the vibration table. The method of providing dynamic motion therapy to a person in a weightless environment includes the steps of (a) providing a vibration table having a non-rigidly supported platform; (b) securing the person to the non-rigidly supported platform; (c) subjecting the person to resonant vibrations generated by the non-rigidly supported platform; and (d) repeating steps (b) and (c) during a predetermined treatment duration. The predetermined treatment duration is at least the duration of the weightless environment.

    摘要: A therapeutic device, such as an exercise device, includes the principles of osteogenic repair by incorporating a loading mechanism into the exercise device. By doing so, the therapeutic device provides an increased osteogenic effect, thereby enhancing the benefits of the therapy. As an example, a exercise device includes a support surface for supporting all or part of the bodily tissue of an individual using the device. A linear or rotary loading mechanism associated with the frame or a rotational element of the exercise device drives the support surface at a selected load and frequency, thereby inducing mechanical loading of bodily tissue adjacent to the support surface sufficiently to facilitate the growth, development, strengthening, and/or healing of bone tissue. The loading mechanism may be incorporated into any exercise device, including standard exercise devices such as rowing machines, stair climbing machines, elliptical trainers, bicycles, cross-country ski trainers, treadmills, or weight trainers.
