摘要: Methods and apparatus are disclosed to generate market segmentation data with anonymous location data. A disclosed example method involves receiving geographic location information associated with a mobile phone user, associating the geographic location information with an identifier unrelated to personal information associated with the mobile phone user, identifying a home location associated with the geographic location information, and associating segmentation information with the identifier based on the home location and without referencing personal information of the mobile phone user.

摘要: Methods, devices and systems facilitate diagnosis, and in some cases treatment, of back pain originating in intervertebral discs. Methods generally involve introducing one or more substances into one or more discs using a catheter device. In one embodiment, a patient assumes a position that causes back pain, and a substance such as an anesthetic or analgesic is introduced into the disc to determine whether the substance relieves the pain. Injections into multiple discs may optionally be performed, to help pinpoint a disc as a source of the patient's pain. In some embodiments, the catheter device is left in place, and possibly coupled with another implantable device, to provide treatment of one or more discs. A catheter device includes at least one anchoring member for maintaining a distal portion of the catheter within a disc.

摘要: A cuff for measuring volume and change in volume of a body appendage includes a hollow, rigid tube having an inner surface; and a bladder having an inner surface and an outer surface, the ends of the bladder being sealed to the ends of the tube to create an enclosed internal volume between the inner surface of the bladder and the inner surface of the tube and an external volume defined by the outer surface of the bladder and surrounded by the internal volume, the bladder having a normal, relaxed state, in which the internal volume is filled with a fluid and a retracted state in which the fluid is evacuated from the internal volume. Two stiffener ribs placed on the inner surface of the bladder, parallel to each other and to the lengthwise axis of the tube at diametrically opposite positions. A plurality of emitters and detectors arranged in a linear array are embedded in one of the ribs, so as to emit and detect light through the bladder. A fluid port extending through the tube and communicating with the internal volume, through which the internal volume can be filled with or emptied of the fluid.

摘要: An electrical apparatus of an electric distribution power system includes an electrical device having a high voltage electrical terminal that may be energized, an exterior insulating housing, and an insulator. The exterior insulating housing surrounds and insulates the electrical device, and includes an opening through which the high voltage electrical terminal protrudes such that at least a portion of the high voltage electrical terminal is external to the exterior insulating housing. The insulator covers the electrical terminal and is attached to the exterior insulating housing such that no current flow path is provided through an interface between the insulator and the exterior insulating housing.

摘要: A surface of a first ceramic component is joined to a surface of a second ceramic component using a silver-based composition. The silver-based composition is a mixture of silver metal and a metal oxide and the metal in the metal oxide is a metal other than silver. The silver-based composition is applied to the surface of the first ceramic component and to the surface of the second ceramic component. The silver-based composition applied to the first ceramic component is contacted to the silver-based composition applied to the second ceramic component. The surfaces of the first and second ceramic components are heated to melt the applied silver-based compositions. The surfaces of the first and second ceramic components are cooled to form a bond between the first and second ceramic components.

摘要: Systems and methods are provided for noninvasively measuring the levels of urea, blood osmolarity (or Na+), plasma free hemoglobin and tissue water content in a patient's blood or tissue. Light of selected wavelengths is passed through blood or body tissue and the transmitted or reflected light is detected and the detected signals can be electronically compared and manipulated to provide the non-invasive, continuous and quantitative display of a patient's blood urea, blood osmolarity (or Na+), plasma free hemoglobin and tissue water content.
