Abstract:
A method of driving a light source includes: determining a ratio of a first display area with respect to an entire display area by analyzing an image data, where the first display area displays a maximum luminance image; generating a duty ratio control signal which controls a duty ratio of a driving signal based on the ratio of the first display area, where the driving signal drives a light source in a first light emitting area of a light source module, and the first light emitting area corresponds to the first display area; and outputting the driving signal to the light source module based on the duty ratio control signal.
Abstract:
A liquid crystal display panel comprises a backlight unit including an optical assembly and configured to differentiate the liquid crystal display panel into a plurality of blocks and to illuminate light to each of the plurality of blocks; a location sensor configured to sense a location of a user watching the liquid crystal display panel; a backlight controller configured to output a dimming value corresponding to a brightness of each of the plurality of blocks according to a result of sensing by the location sensor; and a backlight driver configured to generate a driving current corresponding to the dimming value of each block and to provide the generated driving current to the backlight unit corresponding to each of the plurality of blocks.
Abstract:
A display apparatus with at least two light guide plates, each including a light incident surface and a light exiting surface, the light guide plates being spaced apart from each other so as to form a gap therebetween. The display apparatus also has a light source disposed adjacent to at least one side portion of the light guide plates to emit light to the light incident surface, a display panel positioned to receive light from the light exiting surfaces to facilitate display of an image, and a diffusion member. The diffusion member covers the gap, so as to diffuse light directed toward the display panel.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a display device that can uniformly transmit light emitted from a light source to the entire display panel without using a light guide plate. The display device includes a display panel, a backlight assembly supplying light to the display panel, and a lower cover receiving the backlight assembly. The backlight assembly includes a light source, a circuit board mounted with the light source, and a reflection cover coupled to the circuit board to reflect light emitted from the light source and formed of a bendable plate type member.

Abstract:
A display apparatus includes a light guide plate, a light source unit and a display panel. The light guide plate includes an incident surface, an exit surface and an opposite surface opposite to the exit surface and guides a light incident into the incident surface toward the exit surface. The light source unit includes a light source which generates light and is disposed adjacent to the incident and has an emitting surface inclined with respect to the incident surface. An extension line of a normal line of the emitting surface passes through the opposite surface, and the light is incident into the incident surface while being inclined toward the opposite surface. The display panel displays an image by receiving the light emitted from the exit surface.
