Abstract: Provided is an electronic device including at least one communication module comprising communication circuitry; and a processor, wherein the processor is configured to: establish a first communication connection with a first external device using the at least one communication module, receive a first signal from the first external device through the first communication connection, perform a first function of a first application corresponding to the first signal upon receiving the first signal from the first external device through the first communication connection, based on identifying that a second communication connection with a second external device using the at least one communication module is not established, and perform a second function of a second application related to the second external device corresponding to the first signal upon receiving the first signal from the first external device through the first communication connection, based on identifying that the second communication connection with the second external device using the at least one communication module is established.

Abstract: An electronic device including an electronic pen and a method of controlling a communication connection with the electronic pen is provided. The electronic device include a housing, a touch-screen display, a first wireless communication circuit, an extended recess disposed inside the housing, a first wireless charging circuit; an electronic pen including a second wireless communication circuit and a second wireless charging circuit electrically coupled to the first wireless charging circuit, a processor, and a memory. The memory stores instructions causing the processor to detect whether the electronic pen is inserted into the recess, charge the electronic pen through the first wireless charging circuit based on the detection, receive inherent information of the electronic pen through the first wireless communication circuit during or after the charging, and maintain or re-establish a communication connection with the electronic pen based on at least a portion of the received inherent information.

When the memory is running, the processor may: establish a first communication channel with a first external device by means of the wireless communication circuit; receive authentication information from the first external device by means of the first communication channel; receive data from the first external device by means of the first communication channel, while or after receiving the authentication information; store the received data in the memory at least temporarily; establish a second communication channel with a second external device by means of the network interface, by using the authentication information; and store commands for transmitting the stored data to the second external device by means of the second communication channel. Other embodiments are possible.

Abstract: Various embodiments of the present invention relate to an electronic device for controlling communications. The electronic device may comprise: a housing including a first side and a second side facing the first side; a touch screen display exposed through the first side; a wireless communication unit for generating a directional beam in order to establish a wireless communication channel with an external electronic device; a sensor mounted in the housing; at least one processor mounted in the housing and electrically coupled to the display, the wireless communication unit and the sensor; and a memory mounted in the housing and electrically coupled to the at least one processor. The memory according to the various embodiments of the present invention is, when executed, characterized in that the processor is configured to: perform a first direction search for determining the direction of the directional beam corresponding to a first section, wherein the first section falls within a range corresponding to the direction of the electronic device; detect a change in direction of the electronic device by using the wireless communication unit and the sensor; and in response to the change of direction, perform, at least partially, a second direction search corresponding to a second section on the basis of the detected direction change, wherein the second section falls within a range corresponding to the changed direction of the electronic device, and the second section has a smaller range than that of the first section. Other embodiments are possible.

The memory stores instructions that, when executed, cause the at least one processor, through the wireless communication circuit, to generate a first link with a first external electronic device based on the Bluetooth network, generate a second link with a second external electronic device based on the Bluetooth network, transmit information to the second external electronic device through the second link, wherein the information is used by the second external electronic device to monitor the first link, negotiate timing for transmitting a response message with the second external electronic device, receive a data packet from the first external electronic device, and transmit a response message to the first external electronic device in response to the data packet based on the negotiated timing.
