The electronic device includes a communication unit configured to transmit and receive data; and a controller configured to, when a state of the electronic device that satisfies a condition for termination of a running application is detected while the application is in progress, control discovery of at least one external electronic device and transmit data of the running application to at least one electronic device selected from the discovered external electronic devices through the communication unit with an instruction for the at least one selected electronic device to process the data of the running application.
