Abstract: A method performed by a first entity in a wireless communication system is provided. The method includes receiving a first request message for receiving a multicast service from a second entity, detecting information about a multicast session identifier (ID) from the first request message, requesting information about a fourth entity corresponding to the multicast session ID from a third entity when the first entity does not correspond to the information about the multicast session ID, receiving the information about the fourth entity corresponding to the multicast session ID, identifying the fourth entity based on the information about the fourth entity, transmitting a multicast session join request message to the fourth entity, and receiving a message accepting multicast session join from the fourth entity.

Abstract: According to an embodiment of the disclosure, a base station (BS) is configured to: transmit traffic to at least one user equipment (UE) connected to the BS via a unicast scheme; based on information about a number of UEs connected to the BS to use a particular application, a particular service, or a particular session, or information of traffic to be used by the UE, determine whether to switch a transmission scheme of the traffic from the unicast scheme to a broadcast/multicast scheme; and as the broadcast/multicast scheme is determined as the transmission scheme of the traffic, transmit a message informing that the transmission scheme of the traffic is to be switched.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a 5G or pre-5G communication system for supporting a data transmission rate higher than that of a 4G communication system such as LTE. According to one embodiment of the present invention, a method in a roaming environment supporting a network slice is provided. The method comprises the steps of: receiving, from a terminal, a first packet data unit (PDU) session request message including slice assistance information indicating the properties of a service the terminal intends to use; transmitting, to a network function (NF) repository function, a first discovery request message including a home public land mobile network (PLMN) ID of the terminal and the slice assistance information; and receiving, from the NF repository function, a first discovery response message including a session management network function (SM NF) address of the home PLMN. The SM NF is selected on the basis of the slice assistance information.

Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for steering a PDU session associated with traffic routed to a selected UPF. The method includes receiving, from an AF entity, a first message including information for selecting a UPF entity for traffic routing of a terminal and information on a spatial condition associated with a location of the terminal; transmitting, to an SMF entity, a second message to receive information associated with the location of the terminal indicating that the terminal entered or left a specific area, the specific area being determined by the PCF entity based on the spatial condition; receiving, from the SMF entity, a third message including the information associated with the location of the terminal; and transmitting, to the SMF entity, a fourth message based on the information associated with the location of the terminal included in the third message, the fourth message including the information for selecting the UPF entity for traffic routing of the terminal.
