    摘要: The present invention relates to an automatic starting and stopping apparatus for an engine, which prolongs the lives of mechanical components such as a starter motor and which is applicable also to automatic vehicles. The automatic starting and stopping apparatus for an engine comprises a vehicle-to-vehicle distance sensor 29, which detects whether the distance from the preceding vehicle is less than a preset value, a signal color identifying and detecting device 30, which identifies whether the lit color of the signal is yellow or red, a car speed sensor 15, and a control circuit 31, which performs automatic start and stop of the engine in accordance with the detection results of the vehicle-to-vehicle distance sensor 29 and the signal color identifying and detecting apparatus 30. The control circuit 31 carries out automatic stop by cutting off the electric power to the engine ignition circuit 3 if the vehicle-to-vehicle distance is less than the preset value or the signal indicates a yellow or red light and also the car speed is zero, while it supplies electric currents to the starter 8 and the engine ignition circuit to implement automatic start when the vehicle-to-vehicle distance has reached the preset value or more or the lit signal color has changed from red to green.

    摘要: A coaxial type starter motor comprises a d.c. motor comprising a hollow armature rotary shaft and a front bracket connected to a yoke, an overrunning clutch disposed in the front bracket to transmit a rotational force from the rotary shaft, an output shaft having a rear end portion which is extended into the hollow rotary shaft and is supported by a bearing so as to be slidable forwardly and backwardly, the output shaft having a helical spline connection to a clutch inner in the overrunning clutch to obtain the transmission of a rotational force, and a pinion mounted on the front end portion of the output shaft so as to come to interlocking with the ring gear of an engine when the output shaft is forwardly moved, wherein a clutch outer in the overrunning clutch has an enlarged diameter portion for supporting a roller at its rear end side, a boss portion of a reduced diameter at its front end side, in which the outer periphery of the boss portion is supported by the front bracket by means of a bearing, and the clutch inner is supported by the inner periphery of the boss portion of the clutch outer by means of a bearing.

    摘要: An over-running clutch has a tube-like clutch outer 23 formed integrally with a boss portion 21 which is helically spline-engaged with an output shaft 1. The clutch outer is slightly diverged toward its open end due to cementation quenching, and has a plurality of grooves formed circumferentially around its inner peripheral surface at an equal pitch. Each of the grooves has a wedge-like shape which gradually decreases around the circumference. A clutch inner 24 accommodated inside the clutch outer is formed such that an axial tilting of its outer peripheral surface is substantially equal to that of the inner peripheral surface of the clutch outer. Rollers are accommodated in each of the wedge-like spaces formed between the grooves and the outer peripheral surface of the clutch inner so as to be circumferentially movable.
