摘要: A configurable oxygen concentrator for providing various flow rates and volumes of concentrated oxygen to a patient includes an electro-mechanical assembly having a housing with a first face, a second face and an outer surface. The oxygen concentrator also includes a first battery, a second battery, a first adsorbent container and a second adsorbent container. The first and second batteries are removably mountable to the first face and the first and second adsorbent containers are removably mountable to the second face to permit modification of the concentrated oxygen capacity and operating life of the concentrator as the patient progresses through different stages of a breathing disease. The first battery has a first battery capacity that is less than a second battery capacity of the second battery. The first adsorbent container has a first adsorbent capacity that is less than a second adsorbent capacity of the second adsorbent container.

摘要: A transportable extracorporeal system includes a housing, a blood flow inlet, a blood flow outlet, a plurality of hollow gas permeable fibers, a gas inlet in fluid connection with inlets of the plurality of hollow gas permeable fibers, a gas outlet in fluid connection with outlets of the plurality of hollow gas permeable fibers, a first moving element, a concentrated oxygen generating device, a second moving element, a hollow transport conduit having a proximal opening and a distal opening and a power source configured to provide power to the first and second moving elements. The plurality of hollow gas permeable fibers comprising a gas transfer membrane. The concentrated oxygen generating device is configured to recycle waste oxygen from the gas transfer membrane to increase throughput and remove, by an adsorption/desorption process, unwanted gasses.

摘要: Lightweight, portable oxygen concentrators that operate using an ultra rapid, sub one second, adsorption cycle based on advanced molecular sieve materials are disclosed. The amount of sieve material utilized is a fraction of that used in conventional portable devices. This dramatically reduces the volume, weight, and cost of the device. Innovations in valve configuration, moisture control, case and battery design, and replaceable sieve module are described. Patients with breathing disorders and others requiring medical oxygen are provided with a long lasting, low cost alternative to existing portable oxygen supply devices.

摘要: Hybrid aircraft propulsion systems are disclosed comprising an electrically driven ducted fan, a peripheral duct or enclosure, a combustion-produced source of radiant energy, radiant energy receivers or cold mirrors, and thermophotovoltaic or thermoelectric cell energy converters. An electric motor drives a partially or completely duct enclosed fan. Downstream and within the duct enclosure, radiant energy emitters irradiated receiver fins and thermophotovoltaic cells or thermoelectric cells. The receiver fins heat and expand the fan air, and the thermophotovoltaic cells or thermoelectric cells convert the radiant energy into electrical energy which is available to charge batteries and energize the fan motor. Thrust is provided via the acceleration of air by the fan and by the acceleration of air due to heat driven expansion.

摘要: A device and a system that delivers continuous positive airway pressure in conjunction with oxygen delivery is disclosed. The system is portable so that patients may be mobile and conveniently travel. Several means are disclosed for integrating oxygen production into a positive airway pressure (PAP) device, including oxygen production machinery entirely integrated into the PAP housing, oxygen production machinery that mates with a PAP device but which may operate independently, and where portions of the oxygen production machinery are located in the PAP housing and other portions (for example, the compressor) are located in a separate module, such as, for example, an AC-to-DC power conversion module.
