摘要: An apparatus and method for conducting exclusive and inclusive metadata searches to identify and select multimedia programs. The apparatus of the invention including a metadata search controller that compares user specified search words with metadata words to find programs that meet user specified search criteria. The metadata search controller executes an inclusive metadata search to search for matches between a user specified search word and a metadata word that is related to the user specified search word in a word pair contained within a word pair database. The metadata search controller calculates a rank value for each program that is found by a metadata search and creates a ranked list of such programs.

摘要: A method, process and system for performing content augmentation of personal profiles includes (a) building a user history of a plurality of augmented content information of relevant TV programs; (b) analyzing user queries and determining a degree to which the user queried for additional content information; (c) inferring values about the user from user queries for additional content information so as to augment the additional content information; (d) updating the augmented content information to at least one of the user history, Internet and specialized databases; (e) linking individual ones of the plurality of augmented content information to each other; and (f) determining inferences about the user's interests and preferences based on the linkage of the plurality of augmented content information. The updating of the augmented content information includes segmenting and indexing of multimedia content. A feedback system is created where user queries for more information and purchases from the Internet and specialized databases will result in additional augmented content information about the particular user.

摘要: A method and apparatus for editing a source video that has already been taken to stabilize images in the video. To eliminate jerky motion from a video, changes in shots are first detected. Then, any jerkiness within the video of that shot is classified and the video is segmented further into smaller segments based on this classification. The jerkiness within the selected segments is removed. The corrected shot, comprising a plurality of frames, is then added to the preceding shot until all shots of the video have been appropriately corrected for jerkiness. To help the user identify the shots being edited, keyframes or snapshots of the shots are displayed, thereby allowing the user to decide whether processing of the shot is desired and which shots should be incorporated into the final video.

摘要: For use in a video signal processor, there is disclosed a system and method for locating program boundaries and commercial boundaries using audio categories. The system comprises an audio classifier controller that obtains information concerning the audio categories of the segments of an audio signal. Audio categories include such categories as silence, music, noise and speech. The audio classifier controller determines the rates of change of the audio categories. The audio classifier controller then compares each rate of change of the audio categories with a threshold value to locate the boundaries of the programs and commercials. The audio classifier controller is also capable of classifying at least one feature of an audio category change rate using a multifeature classifier to locate the boundaries of the programs and commercials.

摘要: A method of selecting, storing and delivering desired audio/data/visual information includes the steps of determining viewing preferences of a viewer and receiving a first group of audio/data/visual signals, for example, broadcast and cable television signals or internet-based signals. Based on the first group of audio/data/visual signals, a second group of audio/data/visual signals, which is a subset of the first group of audio/data/visual signals, is identified. The second group of audio/data/visual signals is selected based on the association of EPG data for each signal with the viewing preferences of the viewer. Content data is then extracted from the second group of audio/data/visual signals and compared with the viewing preferences. The content data may include, for example, closed-captioned text, EPG data, audio information, visual information and transcript information. Based on the comparison of the content data extracted from the second group of audio/data/visual signals with the viewing preferences, audio/data/visual information contained in the second group of audio/data/visual signals which is of interest to the viewer is identified and stored for review at the viewers convenience.

摘要: This invention relates to a method and an apparatus of controlling a release of a material carried by ultrasound sensitive particles, the release being caused by irradiating the ultrasound sensitive particles with an ultrasonic pulse having acoustic properties selected so as to interact with the ultrasound sensitive particles and thus causing the release of the material. The ultrasound sensitive particles comprise sub-groups of ultrasound sensitive particles, the ultrasound sensitive particles within the same sub-group having their respective acoustic property causing each respective sub-group to interact independently with the sound wave.
