摘要: Apparatus, systems, and methods provide for the management of a high temperature electrolysis process. According to embodiments described herein, a fuel cell electrolyzer stack is utilized in an electrolysis process. One implementation includes the use of a solid oxide electrolyzer. Input voltage is cycled around a thermal neutral voltage such that the fuel cell electrolyzer stack cycles between operation in an exothermic mode and an endothermic mode. The waste heat generated by operation in the exothermic mode is used to support the endothermic operation. By cycling between operation modes, the temperature of the fuel cell electrolyzer stack may be controlled without the use of a cooling loop or recirculated reactant flow, and the efficiency of the electrolysis process is maximized.

摘要: Methods and systems provide for the creation of power, water, and heat utilizing a fuel cell. According to embodiments described herein, fuel is provided to a fuel cell for the creation of power and a fuel byproduct. The fuel byproduct is routed to a byproduct separation phase of a power and water generation system, where water is separated from the fuel byproduct. The remaining mixture is reacted in a burner phase of the system to create additional heat that may be converted to mechanical energy and/or utilized with other processes within the system or outside of the system. According to other aspects, the separated water may be utilized within a biofuel production subsystem for the creation of biofuel to be used by the fuel cell.

摘要: Hydrogen powered air vehicles that in some embodiments can fly with very long endurance (10 or more days) at altitudes over 60,000 ft carrying payloads of up to 2,000 pounds. Embodiments may include features such as large wingspan relative to fuselage and an all composite or partial composite structure for light weight and strength. The aircraft of the invention use one or more internal combustion engines adapted for hydrogen combustion, each engine driving propellers. The hydrogen fuel is stored on board in containers, located within the fuselage, as a cryogenic liquid, and is vaporized in a heat exchanger before delivery to the internal combustion engine.

摘要: An aerospace platform includes a structure having a cavity and a light-transmissive portion that exposes the cavity to sunlight. The aerospace platform further includes a fluid heating system. The fluid heating system includes a fluid-carrying, thermally absorptive structure within the cavity, and a solar collector for collecting light transmitted through the light-transmissive portion and focusing the collected light onto the absorptive structure. The thermally absorptive structure has a high surface absorptivity that retains thermal energy when exposed to solar irradiance and heats fluid contained therein.

摘要: A high sensitivity conductivity detector for ion chromatography includes an isolated fluid cell and a measuring circuit including an operational amplifier having its input connected to the center tap of a transformer. Feedback from the operational amplifier maintains the center tap at virtual ground potential. The excitation voltage for the transformer is supplied by two operational amplifiers. A thermoelectric semiconductor device maintains the temperature of the sample cell at a constant, ambient temperature.
