摘要: A vacuum envelope that can improve the vacuum degree in a field emission device is provided. The vacuum envelope includes the cathode side substrate 2 on which field emission elements are formed and the anode substrate 1 spaced by a predetermined distance in the electron emission direction. At least two openings are formed before sealing the vacuum envelope. The remaining gas is ousted from the vacuum envelope by introducing a high temperature gas inside the vacuum envelope for a predetermined period of time. Thereafter, one of the openings is sealed while the envelope is being evacuated to a vacuum state through the remaining openings.

摘要: A vacuum container capable of arranging a getter member therein while preventing an increase in overall height of an envelope and therefore the vacuum container. An anode substrate on which anode electrodes providing a display section are formed and a cathode substrate on which field emission cathodes are formed are arranged opposite to each other and sealedly joined to each other through an outer periphery thereof, to thereby provide an envelope. The cathode substrate is formed with a through-hole communicating with an interior of the envelope. The through-hole has a getter member received therein. The cathode substrate is provided on a portion of an outer surface thereof at which the through-hole is formed with an evacuation pipe through which the envelope is evacuated.

摘要: A getter support capable of permitting a getter to be compactly arranged in a vacuum envelope while keeping a space for the getter minimized. The getter support includes holders for vertically interposedly holding a getter, first support legs formed integrally with the holders so as to downwardly extend therefrom, and second support legs formed integrally with the holders so as to upwardly extend therefrom. The getter support is fixedly arranged in a getter chamber while being pressed by elasticity of the second support legs. The second support legs are varied in deflection depending on contact thereof with a second substrate of an envelope. This permits a distance between an upper surface of the getter and the second substrate of the envelope to be constantly kept at a desired value.

摘要: An evacuation apparatus is capable of evacuating an envelope to a high vacuum without evacuating a whole room or chamber to a high vacuum. An evacuation pipe is connected at a distal end thereof to an evacuation head and a vacuum pump is actuated to evacuate an evacuation chamber to a high vacuum, to thereby evacuate an envelope to a high vacuum. Then, a motor is driven to rotate ball screws, to thereby upwardly move the envelope mounted on the evacuation head. The evacuation pipe is fused at an intermediate portion thereof by a gas burner, to thereby be sealed. Then, the evacuation pipe is cut to disconnect the envelope from the evacuation head.

摘要: A method for manufacturing a display device is available that is capable of remarkably improving life characteristics of a display device. A display device placed in a chamber is evacuated to about 10.sup.-7 Torr. Then, reducing gas is introduced into the display device and held therein for several minutes, followed by evacuation of the display device to about 10.sup.-5 Torr. The reducing gas introducing and discharge steps are repeated several times. Thereafter, evacuation of the display device is carried out while keeping the chamber at about 300.degree. C., followed by sealing of the display device.

摘要: A fluorescent display device (1) includes an air tight envelope (2) having a cathode substrate (3), an anode substrate (4) with a phosphor layer arranged to provide a luminous display, a seal member (5), an evacuation hole (9) formed at a side of the envelope (2), and a getter chamber (10) in communication with the hole (9). The getter chamber (10) is disposed on the outside of the envelope (2) and includes a chamber body (12), and an evacuation tube (13). The getter chamber (10) eliminates the independent formation of an evacuation hole in the cathode substrate (3), and thereby prevents damage and contamination of the cathode substrate (3).

摘要: A fluorescent display device capable of being sealed while being evacuated to a high vacuum without independently forming any evacuation hole at an electrode formation section of a substrate of an envelope. A cathode substrate is sealedly formed of an electrode formation section of a large plate-like shape provided thereon with a field emission cathode, an evacuation section of a small plate-like shape formed with a cutout, and a seal member. An anode substrate on which a display section is spacedly arranged oppositely to the cathode substrate. A getter chamber including an evacuation tube is connected to the evacuation hole. Thus, the present invention eliminate independent formation of any specific evacuation at the electrode formation section, to thereby prevent damage and contamination of the substrates.
