    Abstract: A lighting and alerting device for a walking stick includes a walking stick body and a control device. The control device includes a manual power generating unit and a power supply unit; electric power generated by winding the manual power generating unit is transmitted to a power storing unit for storage, and is further transmitted to a lighting unit, a light alerting unit and a sound alerting unit; the power supply unit also supplies electric power to the lighting unit, the light alerting unit and the sound alerting unit. Normally, the lighting unit, the light alerting unit and the sound alerting unit receives a power signal from the power supply unit so as to let the user to use a control switch to enable operations of the lighting unit, the light alerting unit and the sound alerting unit, to allow the walking stick to provide lighting and alerting functions during nighttime. If the power supply unit is running out of power, the user can wind the manual power generating unit to generate temporary power to enable operations of the lighting unit, the light alerting unit and the sound alerting unit.

    Abstract: A brake device for a tape rule is provided that comprises a housing composed of an upper housing and a lower housing, a control device having a brake button portion and a release button portion. The brake button has an extended supporting arm formed thereon that includes a confining slit. A brake strap having a spring tongue with a protuberance formed at its end is displaced by the control device. With this structure, the control device is assembled in the housing with both the brake button and the release button extending out of the housing. The brake strap is guided in slide slots formed on the housing such that the protuberance of the spring tongue is mated with the top edge of the slide slot formed on the lower housing. The top end of the brake strap is received in the confining slit, the bottom end thereof is disposed near the surface of the tape. The detaining or releasing function of the brake can be performed with the aid of resiliency of the flexed spring tongue.

Electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection circuitry is provided that prevents damage or undesired programming of the sensitive circuitry in the presence of an electrostatic discharge event.     Abstract: An enhanced structure for measuring tape, comprises a tape casing having a wheel disposed in its interior, a metal tape being wound around said wheel 11 and having a tail end fixedly connected to said wheel so as to generate elastic force to let said tape eject automatically from said tape casing when no braking force is applied; a press button pivotally connects to the top of said tape casing, said press button having a curved tooth face disposed at top of inner wall thereof, with said curved tooth face and a removable transmission element meshing with each other; and a driving element and a power receiving element mesh with each other and are disposed near said transmission element, wherein said power receiving element links with said wheel; a user can use one hand to eject the tape, when he/she wants to retract the tape, he/she can press said press button with the hand that holds the measuring tape to let said curved tooth face inside said press button to rotate downward for an angle, and then to drive said transmission element to move down a length to let said transmission element mesh with said driving element, thus causing said transmission element to receive power from said driving element and to drive said power receiving element to rotate for an angle, so as to drive said wheel to turn reversely to retract a length of said tape, when said press button is not being pressed, an elastic force of said retracting element returns said press button to an original position to let said transmission element break away from said driving element. By repeating the above steps, said tape is retracted to said tape casing, while all operations are done with one hand.
