摘要: In a CATV-LAN in which a plurality of modems transmit messages asynchronously from respective terminal apparatuses to an upstream transmission path and receives messages from a downstream transmission path, when a modem is transmitting a message, the resultant data which are received by that modem are compared with data of that message which have already been transmitted, and transmission is interrupted if the received data do not correctly match the transmitted data, due to conflict with data transmitted by some other modem. Each message contains information specifying its length, and when a non-transmitting modem receives a set of data whose actual length does not match a length value which is specified within the data, the data are discarded. It thereby becomes unnecessary to provide beat detection circuits in the modems, for detecting data conflict, so that system cost can be reduced.

摘要: A recording apparatus that can implement an endless recording function and a prealert recording function for video and audio data using a single random access recording medium having excellent random accessibility will be provided. The recording apparatus includes: an input section 101 that receives data; a recording section 103 that has a random access recording medium and makes a data recording onto the random access recording medium; and a control section 104 that sequentially records data onto recording sectors by controlling data transfer between the input section and the recording section. By causing the control section to repetitively overwrite data to a recording area, the endless recording function can be implemented.

摘要: A recording and reproducing apparatus and method which prevents or managing a data loss caused by each of seek operations in recording/reproducing a time-series digital data set, to/from a disk recording media via a buffer. Beforerecording/reproducing, a check is made, by using a rate of data transfer with the outside, a data transfer rate in an access to a track where each of the selected sectors lies, and a seek time for each of changes in tracks, to see if the buffer will overflow/underflow during the period of recording/reproducing. If so, then an input/output data transfer rate is reduced before recording/reproducing to make the check. In case of recording, if there is at least a substitute for a sector which will cause the overflow, the sector is changed to a substitute.

摘要: A wavelength multiplexing optical communication device having an optical dispersion-compensating function compensating for waveform variation of an optical signal due to optical dispersion of a transmission line determines optimum dispersion-compensating values causing a minimum error rate with respect to pre-installed wavelength channels, produces a dispersion map of the transmission line based on optimum dispersion-compensating values, predicts an initial value of a dispersion-compensating value per a newly added wavelength channel with reference to the dispersion map, and starts scanning at the initial value so as to determine an optimum dispersion-compensating value of the newly added wavelength channel, thus updating the dispersion map by adding the optimum dispersion-compensating value of the newly added wavelength channel. Thus, it is possible to set an optimum dispersion-compensating value per each wavelength channel with a high precision, thus shortening the setting time.

摘要: Performance interface system includes a motion detector provided for movement with a performer, and a control system for receiving detection data transmitted from the motion detector and controlling a performance of a tone in response to the received detection data. State of a performer's motion is detected via a sensor of the motion detector, and detection data representative of the detected motion state is transmitted to the control system. The control system receives the detection data from the motion detector, analyzes the performer's motion on the basis of the detection data, and then controls a tone performance in accordance with the analyzed data. With this arrangement, the performer can readily take part in the tone performance in the control system. For example, as the performer moves his or her hand, leg or trunk while listening to a manual or automatic performance of a music piece being carried out by a performance apparatus of the control system, the motion detector detects the performer's motion and transmits corresponding detection data to the control system, which in turn variably controls a predetermined one of tonal factors in the music piece performance. This arrangement can readily provide interactive performance control and thereby allows an inexperienced or unskilled performer to take part in a performance with enjoyment.
