    摘要: A rotary piston engine comprises a housing having a trochoidal peripheral wall and side walls on both sides thereof, a rotor adapted to perform a planetary rotary motion along the inner surface of the peripheral wall, and intake and exhaust ports formed in the housing. The engine performs intake, compression, combustion and exhaust strokes of a working fluid in accordance with the planetary rotary motion of the rotor. An air injection port is formed in the peripheral wall of the housing between the exhaust port and a portion of the minor axis of the trochoidal curve, being adapted to communicate with the intake chamber formed between the peripheral wall and the rotor. Through the injection port, air and fuel are supplied into the housing to prevent recirculation of exhaust gas into the intake chamber of the engine, to stratify an air-fuel mixture of a richness appropriate for spark ignition and an air alone so as to facilitate the combustion of a lean air-fuel mixture as a whole, and to reduce harmful exhaust gases, particularly, hydrocarbon (HC) and carbon monoxide (CO) by the engine operation with the relatively lean air-fuel mixture.

    摘要: There is provided an ignition system for a rotary piston engine comprising first and second ignition means mounted in a rotor housing. The first ignition means is positioned ahead of the second ignition means in the direction of rotation of a rotor. Switching means is actuated in response to the output signal of an engine speed sensor and an intake manifold vacuum sensor so that current is supplied to the second ignition means only during specified periods such as during the high engine speed operation and high engine load operation.

    摘要: A rotary piston engine comprises a housing having a trochoidal peripheral wall and side walls on both sides thereof, a rotor adapted to perform a planetary rotary motion along the inner surface of the peripheral wall and intake and exhaust ports formed in the housing. The engine performs intake, compression, combustion and exhaust of a working fluid by means of the planetary rotary motion of the rotor. An air injection port is formed in the peripheral wall of the housing between the exhaust port and a portion of the peripheral wall through which the minor axis of the trochoidal curve extends. A means is provided to supply air through the air injection port into the housing to prevent recirculation of exhaust gas into the intake chamber of the engine, stratify an air-fuel mixture of a richness appropriate for spark ignition and a lean air-fuel mixture with a resultant combustion of the stratified mixtures and reduce harmful exhaust gases, particularly, hydrocarbon (HC) and carbon monoxide (CO) by means of the engine operation with a relatively lean air-fuel mixture.

    摘要: An ignition system for rotary piston engines includes a glow plug in addition to the normal leading spark plug and trailing spark plug. The glow plug is mounted in the housing of the engine on the leading side with respect to the trochoidal minor axis in the direction of the rotor rotation and performs continuous ignition of the mixture during low speed and load operation of the engine. Thus, during the low speed and load operation the glow plug performs ignition in place of the leading spark plug whereas during other engine operating conditions the leading spark plug and the trailing spark plug perform the ignition of the mixture.

    摘要: An internal combustion engine has an evaporated fuel purge system for directly feeding evaporated fuel of a fuel tank into an intake pipe of the engine during the engine is running. This system comprises a purge control valve for opening or closing a flow line which connects an upper space of the fuel tank with the intake pipe, a controller for controlling the operation of the valve, a throttle section formed in series with the purge control valve, and pressure and temperature sensors which are located on the upstream side of the throttle section for detecting a pressure and a temperature of the evaporated fuel. When a value detected by the pressure sensor exceeds a predetermined value of pressure for providing a critical pressure ratio at which a flow rate of the evaporated fuel at the throttle section substantially equals to a sonic velocity, the controller opens the purge control valve to cause a purged flow of the evaporated fuel whose flow rate is constant. Simultaneously, the controller calculates a purged flow rate of the evaporated fuel from the detected values of the pressure and temperature sensors and a time period during which the purge control valve is opened. On the basis of the calculated purged flow rate, a reduction correction is made to an amount of the fuel to be supplied to the engine in order to maintain an air-fuel ratio in the optimum condition. The calculated purged flow rate may be indicated.
