摘要: The present invention is directed to devices and systems used in magnetic imaging environments that include an actuator device having an elastomeric dielectric film with at least two electrodes, and a frame attached to the actuator device. The frame can have a plurality of configurations including, such as, for example, at least two members that can be, but not limited to, curved beams, rods, plates, or parallel beams. These rigid members can be coupled to flexible members such as, for example, links wherein the frame provides an elastic restoring force. The frame preferably provides a linear actuation force characteristic over a displacement range. The linear actuation force characteristic is defined as ±20% and preferably 10% over a displacement range. The actuator further includes a passive element disposed between the flexible members to tune a stiffness characteristic of the actuator. The passive element can be a bi-stable element. The preferred embodiment actuator includes one or more layers of the elastomeric film integrated into the frame. The elastomeric film can be made of many elastomeric materials such as, for example, but not limited to, acrylic, silicone and latex.

摘要: The invention relates to a method for treating triazine-containing water of a melamine plant. The method is characterized in that the water containing ionic and non-ionic triazines in a dissolved form is fed to at least one membrane filtration unit, the water is separated into an ionic triazine-rich fraction and a non-ionic triazine-rich fraction in the membrane filtration unit, whereupon the ionic triazine-rich fraction is discharged and the non-ionic triazine-rich fraction is redirected into the melamine plant. The inventive method allows a great portion of the melamine contained in the triazine-containing water to be redirected into the process while the yield is increased along the entire melamine process. Furthermore, the need for fresh water in the wet part of the melamine plant is decreased. The disclosed method can be carried out continuously and in liquid phase.

摘要: A device for disrupting improvised explosive devices (IEDs) with a projectile, which serves to penetrate and/or destroy at least part of the IED. In addition, an accelerator is provided, which accelerates the projectile when the device is actuated and propels it through a barrel. The accelerator is a cartridge filled with propellant. The cartridge is stored in a magazine and contains an initiator for initiating the acceleration. A primer, which is located at the base of the cartridge, serves as the initiator. Initiation occurs when the primer is struck by a firing pin.

摘要: The present invention is a novelty musical kettle that plays a song when liquid inside the kettle is heated. The kettle body contains a circular flute instrument with a release flap at a first end and a closed second end. When the water is heated, the flap opens allowing pressure to enter the instrument. Also, when the liquid is heated, a release strip releases a rachet which in turn releases a manually pre-wound rotating drum with a drive mechanism. As the drum unwinds, a plurality of multilevel cams along the drum's outer circumference lift a plurality of corresponding actuation valves. The actuation valves unseal and reseal a plurality of apertures along the circular instrument. When the aperture is open, the pressure inside escapes and a musical note is played. The unwinding drum continually unseals and reseals the apertures in a preprogramed manner, thus playing a song.

摘要: An outer surface of a cam on a camshaft extending along a camshaft axis is honed by continuously rotating the camshaft about its axis, holding a grinding stone adjacent the cam with a surface of the stone directed radially inward at the cam surface, urging the grinding stone radially of the axis against the stone and thereby pressing the cam surface radially inward against the cam surface for contact of the stone surface along a line with the cam surface, and continuously displacing the stone surface in a direction generally tangential of the camshaft axis and thereby continuously moving the contact line between the cam and stone surfaces. Thus the contact line between the stone and the cam will move continuously, so that wear will not be concentrated in one location and the stone will not wear to fit in surface contact on the cam. The cam surface includes a part-cylindrical base region coaxial with the camshaft and a lobe region projecting radially outward from and joined to the base region. The stone surface is continuously displaced while engaging both of the regions.

摘要: A device for chucking tubular winding cores, and particularly cores carrying paper webs or webs of similar material, wherein chucking segments forming a cylindrical surfaces are radially positioned by means of a core trunnion having an equilateral polygonal cross section, each of the chucking segments bearing on an individual surface of the trunnion through a support member having a rounded profile and producing a line contact. The support members are carried without play or with very little play in a cage inserted coaxially to be freely rotatable between the chucking segments and the core trunnion.
