Abstract:
The present invention provides methods and apparatuses for radiographic imaging of ionizing radiation, including X-ray/gamma ray, neutron or other particle imaging, where a scintillator is used to convert high-energy particles or photons to optical photons.
Abstract:
An air pillow system for an air intake tract includes a plurality of inwardly extending ribs arranged in a distally spaced arrangement and defining a plurality of peripherally closed air pillow pockets. Each pocket has an open end opening towards an airflow stream to be guided. Each rib is configured with an inwardly extending length selected to correlate with a boundary of a low-loss airflow glide path. The air pillows operate to guide the airflow stream along the low-loss airflow glide path with reduced airflow stream turbulence and airflow pressure loss.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods for training a person in route management are based on a personal computer. The apparatus may be used for example to train a bus driver to follow a new or changed route. A data store stores data streams corresponding to different kinds of information of the route, including video of the route, audio data, sound data, GPS and time data, and vehicle engine management data. A VDU and loudspeaker are used as output devices to present the plurality of data streams to a user such that they are co-related to the route to be followed. Data streams corresponding to different route information are not combined in the data store, but comprise cross-referable data. The computer is programmed to present the first data stream and the further data stream in a co-related manner via the output devices and in dependence upon the cross-referable data.
Abstract:
A connector assembly includes first and second hoses, a tubular connector, and a clamp. The tubular connector includes first and second radial projections that are spaced apart along an axial direction of the tubular connector. The tubular connector extends into the first hose, and the first radial projection of the tubular connector engages with the inner surface of the first hose. The tubular connector also extends into the second hose, and the second radial projection of the tubular connector engages with the inner surface of the second hose. The first hose extends into the second hose so that the first and second hoses axially overlap in an area between the first and second radial projections of the tubular connector. The clamp engages the outer surface of the second hose in the axially overlapping area of the first and second hoses to clamp the first and second hoses to the tubular connector.
Abstract:
A seal arrangement for a secondary air charging system includes a seal sealing a gap between an intake opening of the secondary air charging system and a downstream surface of an air intake filter.
Abstract:
A sheath shaped and dimensioned for reducing trauma and easing insertion thereof includes an inner sheath member, the inner sheath member including an inner sheath tip having a primary bevel and a circumferential conical surface. The sheath also includes an outer sheath member shaped and dimensioned to fit around the inner sheath member in a manner permitting relative movement. The outer sheath member includes an outer sheath tip having a primary bevel and a circumferential conical surface.
Abstract:
A spindle nut and a locking device are disclosed for securing the nut on a spindle in a non-rotative position relative to the spindle. The assembly comprises the spindle nut, an antirotation spring and a spring backup plate mounted on the spindle. The antirotation spring and spring backup plate may be formed as a single unit.
Abstract:
Techniques for detecting stress urinary incontinence use a pressure sensing catheter the electrical indications of which are applied to a processing unit for detecting pressure levels generated during involuntary coughs. The involuntary coughs are induced preferentially by using a nebulized composition of L-tartrate in a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The area under the curve generated from pressure samples is calculated and used in conjunction with the detection of urine leakage to determine the existence of stress urinary incontinence.

Abstract:
A route followed by a person is managed. A data store is configured to store data streams corresponding to different kinds of information of a route followed by a person. Data output means is operable to output the data streams to a user such that they are co-related to the route followed by the person. Data handling means is operable to provide the stored data streams to the data output means. The data streams correspond to different route information and can be cross referenced. The data handling means is operable to provide a first data stream and further data stream in a predetermined manner to the data output means and in dependence upon the cross-referable data such that the first and further data streams are output by the data output means in a substantially co-related manner.
