    Abstract: A method and system to dynamically reassign RF spectrum from a first access node to a second access node, where the first access node provides service on a first carrier having a carrier bandwidth. An example method includes (i) selecting a frequency portion of the carrier bandwidth to reassign, the selecting being based on the frequency portion having higher determined noise than one or more other frequency portions of the carrier bandwidth, and (ii) based on the selecting, reassigning the selected frequency portion from the first access node to the second access node to be used by the second access node as at least part of a second carrier on which to provide service. Upon reassigning of the selected frequency portion, the second access node could then provide service on the reassigned portion and the first access node could continue to provide service on a remainder of the first carrier.

    Abstract: A base station of a radio access network (RAN) can be configured to prioritize standalone (SA) 5G traffic over non-standalone (NSA) 5G traffic in certain situations, to improve user experiences associated with 5G-specific services implemented via SA 5G networks. The base station can generally instruct 5G user equipment (UE), such SA UEs and NSA UEs, to prioritize camping on an SA priority band. However, if a RAN load level is at or above a threshold, the base station can instruct NSA UEs to prioritize camping on a different priority band in order to relieve congestion on the SA priority band and/or preserve remaining capacity on the SA priority band for SA UEs. When the RAN load level is above a threshold, the base station can also, or alternately, at least briefly delay traffic associated with NSA UEs to prioritize transmission of traffic associated with SA UEs.

    Abstract: A method and system for controlling data split of a dual-connected user equipment device (UE) when the UE has at least two co-existing air-interface connections including a first air-interface connection with a first access node and a second air-interface connection with a second access node. An example method includes (i) comparing a level of spectral efficiency of the first air-interface connection with a level of spectral efficiency of the second air-interface connection, (ii) based at least on the comparing, establishing a split ratio that defines a distribution of data flow of the UE between at least the first air-interface connection and the second air-interface connection, and (iii) based on the establishing, causing the established split ratio to be applied. Further the method could include using the comparison as a basis to set one of the UE's air-interface connections as the UE's primary uplink path.

    Abstract: A method and system for controlling air-interface resources on a radio-frequency (RF) carrier on which an access node provides wireless communication service. While the access node is set to apply at least two resource-reservations (e.g., PRB-reservations) that are mutually exclusive on the carrier, a computing system detects that resource-availability on the carrier is threshold low. And in response to the detecting, the computing system causes the access node to combine together the at least two resource-reservations on the carrier The combining together of the at least two resource-reservations on the carrier retains the at least two resource-reservations on the carrier but results in a reduction in aggregate total quantity of air-interface resources consumed by the at least two resource-reservations on the carrier.

    Abstract: A method and system for controlling whether a user equipment device (UE) that is not connected with an access node will connect with the access node. An example method includes making a determination of whether the access node has experienced a threshold high extent of secondary-node-addition failures, each secondary-node addition failure being an instance where the access node attempted secondary-node-addition for dual-connectivity service and the attempted secondary-node-addition failed. And the example method includes using the determination as a basis to control whether the UE that is not connected with the access node will connect with the access node.
