    Abstract: An optical modulator includes: a substrate; a waveguide layer including first and second optical waveguides formed of an electro-optic material film on the substrate to have a ridge shape and to be disposed adjacent to each other; an RF part that applies a modulated signal to the optical waveguides; and a DC part that applies a DC bias to the optical waveguides. The DC part includes: a buffer layer covering at least upper surfaces of the optical waveguides; a first bias electrode opposed to the first optical waveguide through the buffer layer; and a second bias electrode provided adjacent to the first bias electrode. A first DC bias voltage is applied between the first and second bias electrodes. A waveguide layer removal area in which at least part of the waveguide layer is removed is provided at least under an area between the first and second bias electrodes.

    Abstract: There is provided a coil component including a coil portion that has at least one layer of planar coil including a coil-wound portion and an insulative layer which covers the periphery of the coil-wound portion, a covering portion that covers the coil portion and is constituted of a mixture including magnetic fillers and resin, and a conductor post that is penetratingly provided inside the covering portion and extends from the coil-wound portion to an upper surface of the covering portion along an axial direction of the planar coil. The conductor post has a post portion which extends from the coil-wound portion in the axial direction of the planar coil, and a lid portion which is exposed from the covering portion and extends from an end portion of the post portion on the upper surface side along a surface direction of the upper surface.

    Abstract: A multilayer electronic component includes an element body having an internal electrode layer and a dielectric layer. These are substantially parallel to a plane including a first axis and a second axis and are alternately laminated along a third axis direction. Side surfaces facing each other in the first axis direction are respectively equipped with an insulating layer. End surfaces facing each other in the second axis direction are respectively equipped with an external electrode. A main component of the insulating layer is constituted by glass containing Si at 25 wt % or more. The external electrode includes glass containing at least Si. The external electrode covers an end portion in the second axial direction of the insulating layer. A diffusing layer is partially present at least at a bonding portion of the insulating layer with the external electrode in the side surface.

    Abstract: A laminated ceramic electronic component provided with a component main body formed by alternatively laminating multiple dielectric ceramic layers and multiple internal electrode layers, and external electrodes disposed on the end faces where the internal electrode layers of the component main body are exposed, wherein at least a part of the multiple internal electrode layers exposed on the end faces of the component main body are provided with end-face electrode portions that connect the adjacent internal electrode layers, the connecting portions are present between the end-face electrode portions and the dielectric ceramic layers that contact with the end-face electrode portions, and the external electrodes are disposed so that the end-face electrode portions are covered.
