Abstract: A virtual assistance system for a vehicle is provided. The virtual assistance system includes one or more processors, one or more memory modules communicatively coupled to the one or more processors, an input device communicatively coupled to the one or more processors, an output device communicatively coupled to the one or more processors, and machine readable instructions stored in the one or more memory modules. The virtual assistance system receives, through the input device, a request for an item from a user, retrieves a location of an entity associated the item, calculates an estimated arrival time when the vehicle will arrive at the location, compares the estimated arrival time with a predetermined time associated with the entity, and instructs the output device to generate a delivery prompt related to the item in response to comparing the estimated arrival time with the predetermined time.

Abstract: System, methods, and other embodiments described herein relate to using vehicles as mobile observation platforms and improving the querying of visual data within the vehicles by leveraging edge computing resources of the vehicles in a distributed network. In one embodiment, a method includes, in response to receiving, in a selected vehicle that is equipped with at least one camera, a visual query from a remote device, identifying search parameters from the query that specify at least visual content that is to be identified. The method includes analyzing a subset of a visual inventory to identify whether the subset includes the visual content by using at least a machine vision model executing on a processor within the selected vehicle. The visual inventory includes camera data that is acquired by the selected vehicle. The method includes communicating detection results about whether the subset includes the visual content to the remote device.

In one embodiment, the storage system includes a communication system configured to communicate wirelessly with an external server to receive an access setting, a storage locker, secured by a primary electronic locking mechanism, including a plurality of inner compartments each secured by respective secondary electronic locking mechanisms, one or more processors, and a memory communicably coupled to the one or more processors and storing: a locking module including instructions that when executed by the one or more processors cause the one or more processors to set the primary electronic locking mechanism and at least one secondary electronic locking mechanism to open in response to, respectively, a primary code and a secondary code based at least in part on information received in the access setting.
