Abstract: An ECU avoids engine stall by putting a compressor into a stationary state in a case where the rotation speed of a crankshaft is equal to or less than a predetermined speed during an idle operation of an internal combustion engine. During the idle operation, the ECU calculates a total load torque applied to the crankshaft by the compressor and an alternator. The ECU calculates the maximum torque of the internal combustion engine during the idle operation based on a target speed during the idle operation. Then, the ECU raises the predetermined speed in a case where the value obtained by subtracting the load torque from the maximum torque is equal to or less than a predetermined value.

Abstract: A control device performs braking using a regenerative brake based on power generation in a motor generator in motor-driven traveling and performs a battery protecting process of starting an engine to set up transmission of a driving force between the motor generator and the engine using a clutch and performing braking based on an engine brake when a state of charge of a battery is equal to or greater than a threshold value in the motor-driven traveling. The control device sets a fuel-cutoff-permission rotation speed to a second rotation speed lower than a first rotation speed when the engine is started through the battery protecting process.

Abstract: The hybrid electric vehicle has a first traveling mode in which the clutch is engaged and the engine is operating, and a second traveling mode in which the clutch is disengaged and the engine is stopped. When switching from the first traveling mode to the second traveling mode, the controller for the hybrid electric vehicle performs the torque replacement control and then disengages the clutch. During the torque replacement control, the controller causes the variable valve mechanism provided in the engine to change the valve timing at a smaller change rate than during a normal engine control.

Abstract: A cooling fan device uses a cooling fan coupled to an engine via a fan clutch to generate cooling air flow for a radiator. The cooling fan device includes an electronic control unit configured to control an engagement rate of the fan clutch. The electronic control unit is configured to execute a first calculation process, a second calculation process, and an upper limit guarding process, thereby controlling the engagement rate based on a value of a coolant temperature requested engagement rate that has been subjected to an upper limit guarding process. A first upper limit rotation speed is set to a lower speed when a vehicle speed is relatively low than when the vehicle speed is relatively high.

Abstract: A controller controls a hybrid electric vehicle. The hybrid electric vehicle includes an engine, a motor arranged in a power transmission path between the engine and a drive wheel, and a clutch arranged in the power transmission path between the engine and the motor. The controller idles the engine in accordance with a target engine rotation speed and operates the motor in accordance with a target motor rotation speed when the clutch is in a disengagement state. When the clutch is in the disengagement state and the engine is idling, the target motor rotation speed is less than the target engine rotation speed.
