    摘要： There is provided an apparatus for processing data for generating an error correction product code block devised so as to maintain the current level of redundancy after the error correcting ability is modified as a result of advancement of semiconductor and data recording/transmission technologies. Unlike any known technique of configuring a Reed-Solomon error correcting product code block of (M+P0)×(N+PI) bytes for an information data of (M×N) bytes, an error correcting product code block data structure is obtained by configuring a (K×(M+1)×(N+P))-byte Reed-Solomon error correcting product code block for (K×M×N)-byte data, making K variable to consequently make the entire size of the Reed-Solomon error correcting product code block variable. At the same time, the error correcting ability varies in proportion to the value of K without increasing redundancy.

    摘要： An information recording medium for recording main information and auxiliary information is provided. The auxiliary information is recorded on the information recording medium in a manner that edge positions of the pits or the recording marks indicating the main information are shifted either in a phase advancing direction or in a phase delaying direction along the track direction. A predetermined frequency is used to determine whether the edge position is shifted in the phase advancing direction or in the phase delaying direction in order to record the auxiliary information. The predetermined frequency is substantially consistently lower than ½ of a reference frequency of a recording clock for creating the pits or the recording marks and is higher than a response frequency of a PLL for generating a reproduction clock for reproducing the main information.

    摘要： An optical disc recording apparatus records a digital content onto an optical disc so that the perfect copying of the digital content is difficult without proper authorization. The optical disc recording apparatus includes a formatter for generating a channel signal corresponding to primary digital information, a secret key storing unit for prestoring secondary digital information, a pseudo random number generator for generating a pseudo random number series, an XOR for logically inverting the pseudo random number series according to each bit of the secondary digital information, a PE modulator for generating a PE modulation signal according to the logically inverted pseudo random number series, a phase modulator for modulating the phase of each edge of the channel signal by a fixed slight time according to the value of the PE modulation signal, and a recording channel for forming recording marks on a DVD according to the modulated channel signal.

    摘要： An optical disk is provided for recording data of a signal modulated according to a predetermined modulation method in a form of concavo-convex pits. The optical disk includes a first area having a reflecting film partly removed, and a second area for recording pits which are different from pits satisfying requirements of the predetermined modulation method. The first area having the reflecting film partly removed includes a portion which is formed by removing the reflecting film, and has a length longer than a maximum pit length determined by the modulation method in a circumferential direction of the optical disk. When the pits recorded on the optical disk are physically copied as they are, physical copying of the optical disk can be prevented by utilizing such a difference that the authorized optical disk differs from a pirated copy in a combination of the respective reproduced signals of the first and second areas.
