The facsimile apparatus comprises a line controller for effecting transmission and reception of image data through a telephone line, an interface for effecting transmission and reception of information with an information processing terminal, a first instruction accepting unit for accepting an instruction for transmission or reception from the information processing terminal, an operation panel for entering a manual instruction, a second instruction accepting unit for accepting the instruction for transmission or reception from the operation panel, a memory for storing communication management information relating to image communication, and a controller for at least controlling the first instruction accepting unit, the second instruction accepting unit and the memory, wherein the controller is adapted to separately store the instruction accepted by the first instruction accepting unit and that accepted by the second instruction accepting unit in the memory.

    摘要： An inexpensive image communication apparatus allows an external information processing terminal to be connected thereto, and uses an interface capable of high-speed data transfer for communication with the PC. The image communication apparatus receives an instruction from the external information processing terminal through an interface control unit in a state in which reception can be performed. When an instruction from the information processing terminal is received while communication is preformed by a communication unit and an instruction from an operation panel is received, the image communication apparatus outputs information indicating that the instruction cannot be executed, in a state in which the interface control unit can perform transmission.

    摘要： An image recording apparatus includes a facsimile (FAX) unit and a printer unit. The printer unit has an ink-jet printing head, and records an image in accordance with image data received by the FAX unit. In this apparatus, when the power supply is turned on, the printer unit performs a hard power-ON initialization process to initialize a watchdog timer, registers, the work area of a RAM, and the like, and also initializes the RAM to erase data left in buffers. Thereafter, the printer unit transfers to a standby state. When a print request or a printer setting request is generated in the standby state, a soft power supply initialization process is executed to perform checking of the RAM, initialization of the work area, and initialization of carriage control and paper feed control, and the like. In the standby state, LEDs and the like of the printer unit are kept OFF. An operation error of the printer unit caused by remaining data can be prevented, and reliability of the apparatus can be improved. In addition, unnecessary power consumption can be prevented.

    摘要： An image recording apparatus comprises a FAX unit and a printer unit. The printer unit has an ink-jet printing head, and records image data received by the FAX unit or image data read by an original sheet reader in a copy mode. A sensor constituted by an actuator and a photointerrupter for detecting whether an original sheet is set is arranged in the original sheet reader. In a stand-up state of the housing of the apparatus, the actuator is removed from the photointerrupter, and this sensor is set in the same state as in the original presence state. Even if a power supply is turned on in this state, a recovery operation which is normally executed is inhibited. With this operation, contamination and occurrence of trouble caused by ink leakage can be prevented.
