摘要: An image recording apparatus includes a facsimile (FAX) unit and a printer unit. The printer unit has an ink-jet printing head, and records an image in accordance with image data received by the FAX unit. In this apparatus, when the power supply is turned on, the printer unit performs a hard power-ON initialization process to initialize a watchdog timer, registers, the work area of a RAM, and the like, and also initializes the RAM to erase data left in buffers. Thereafter, the printer unit transfers to a standby state. When a print request or a printer setting request is generated in the standby state, a soft power supply initialization process is executed to perform checking of the RAM, initialization of the work area, and initialization of carriage control and paper feed control, and the like. In the standby state, LEDs and the like of the printer unit are kept OFF. An operation error of the printer unit caused by remaining data can be prevented, and reliability of the apparatus can be improved. In addition, unnecessary power consumption can be prevented.

摘要: An image recording apparatus comprises a FAX unit and a printer unit. The printer unit has an ink-jet printing head, and records image data received by the FAX unit or image data read by an original sheet reader in a copy mode. A sensor constituted by an actuator and a photointerrupter for detecting whether an original sheet is set is arranged in the original sheet reader. In a stand-up state of the housing of the apparatus, the actuator is removed from the photointerrupter, and this sensor is set in the same state as in the original presence state. Even if a power supply is turned on in this state, a recovery operation which is normally executed is inhibited. With this operation, contamination and occurrence of trouble caused by ink leakage can be prevented.

摘要: A spray gun (1) forms a desired spray pattern by atomizing by means of atomizing air (A) a spray liquid which is sprayed from a liquid ejection port (44) opened/closed by a needle valve (4), and jetting pattern air (P) to the flow of spray mist of the atomized spray liquid. A nozzle taper angle (θ1) is set in a range of 5° to 15°, and a cap taper angle (θ2) is set in a range of 20° to 40°. Atomizing air (A) is jetted from a nozzle insertion hole (58) toward the center of a nozzle (3). Pattern air (P) is jetted in a spreading suppressed region (R) wherein the flow of the spray mist does not spread over an area greater than or equal to a predetermined cross-sectional area, to the flow of spray mist, and as a result, the spray mist is more uniformly sprayed over a wide range.

摘要: A cantilever has a probe portion and a cantilever portion having a free end portion from which the probe portion extends. A displacement detecting portion detects a displacement of the cantilever portion according to an interaction between a sample and the probe portion. An electrode portion is connected to the displacement detecting portion. An insulation film is formed over at least one of the electrode portion and the displacement detecting portion. A functional coating in the form one of a conductive film, a magnetic film, and a film having a light intensity amplifying effect is disposed on the insulation film.

摘要: A scanning probe microscope has a probe needle and a control section that controls relative scanning movement between the probe needle and a surface of a sample in at least one direction parallel to the sample surface and controls relative movement between the probe needle and the sample surface in a direction perpendicular to the sample surface. A vibration source vibrates the probe needle at a vibrating frequency relative to the sample surface. An approach/separation drive section causes the probe needle to relatively approach to and separate from the sample surface at a predetermined distance while the probe needle is vibrated at the vibrating frequency relative to the sample surface by the vibration source. A detection section detects a rate of change in a vibration state of the probe needle in accordance with a distance between the probe needle and the sample surface. An observation section gathers observation data from the sample surface when the rate of change in the vibration state of the probe needle detected by the detection section has exceeded a preselected threshold value.
