    摘要： A data communication apparatus for sending communication protocol signals and data has a low speed modem and a high speed modem. The protocol signal can be communicated by the high speed modem, and data communication can be started by the high speed modem without communication of a protocol signal by the low speed modem after communication of the protocol signals by the high speed modem. Other aspects of the data communication apparatus include the performance of ECM communication, the detection and storage of a communication result of a defined type to enable modification of future operations based on the stored result and the provision of first and second communication modes using recommended and not recommended communication protocols. The data communication apparatus can also communicate the protocol signal as data of a type otherwise communicated.

    摘要： In a facsimile apparatus having a V.17 MODEM, a controller examines a FIF of a received PPR. If all FIF bits are "1", the controller quickly transmits a CTC including transmission speed information by a V.21 MODEM then transmits a long training by a V.17 MODEM, transmission speed of which has been set to that indicated by the transmission speed information, and retransmits the frames required by the PPR at transmission speed of previous transmission of image information to the current retransmission or transmission speed slower than that of previous retransmission to the current retransmission. If there are any "0" bits in the FIF, the apparatus transmits a short training by the V.17 MODEM and retransmits the the frames required by the PPR at the transmission speed of the previous transmission of image information to the current transmission or transmission speed of previous retransmission to the current retransmission.

    摘要： An inexpensive image communication apparatus allows an external information processing terminal to be connected thereto, and uses an interface capable of high-speed data transfer for communication with the PC. The image communication apparatus receives an instruction from the external information processing terminal through an interface control unit in a state in which reception can be performed. When an instruction from the information processing terminal is received while communication is preformed by a communication unit and an instruction from an operation panel is received, the image communication apparatus outputs information indicating that the instruction cannot be executed, in a state in which the interface control unit can perform transmission.
