    摘要: According to some embodiments, a virtual machine manager is operable to manage a virtual machine (VM) that spans a plurality of hardware appliances. The virtual machine manager receives a request to provide a service to a device, selects an application instance to provide the service to the device, and forwards the request for the service to the selected application instance. The selected application instance is running in an instance of the virtual machine associated with a first hardware appliance. The virtual machine manager determines session data associated with the service and provides the session data associated with the service to a second hardware appliance of the VM in order to enable the VM to provide high availability of the service to the device.

    摘要: A power management and data center resource monitoring mechanism is provided for selecting new processing elements in a data center. When a condition is detected for selecting new processing elements, one or more processing elements are selected as the new processing elements based on at least a temperature parameter and a usage history parameter of at least some of the processing elements in the data center. Workload is consolidated onto the new processing elements to conserve energy.

    摘要: This disclosure provides example details for apparatuses and methods that manage virtual firewalls in a wireless communication network that includes a Core Network, CN, and an associated Radio Access Network, RAN. The virtual firewalls process traffic for respective wireless devices supported by the network. For example, the virtual firewall associated with a given wireless device is maintained in the RAN at the RAN node supporting the device, and is migrated from that RAN node in response to detecting a handover event involving the device. Advantageously, migration may be “horizontal,” where the associated virtual firewall is moved between nodes in the RAN, or may be “vertical,” where the associated virtual firewall is moved from the RAN to the CN.
