    摘要: A mechanical overspeed protection device incorporated in a microtest plate carrier used in a centrifuge rotor. A locking arm actuates into a blocking position on the microtest plates in the carrier to indicate that the carriers on the rotor have been subjected to an overspeed condition during the centrifugation run. A housing within the carrier microtest plate retains the arm in an unactivated position during operation below a specified force field. However, when the carrier experiences an overspeed condition, the locking arm is designed to have sufficient weight, so that in response to the centrifugally induced forces the arm will move out of the housing into an outward blocking position on the carrier plates. The insertion of new microtest plates in the carrier for additional centrifugation runs is prevented, since the locking arm is in its blocking position. The blocking position of the locking arm will notify the operator that other carriers should replace the ones which have been subjected to an overspeed condition.

    摘要: A redundant safety lock for securing a centrifuge lid in its closed position. The lock includes a disc having an aperture through which a striker on the lid can be inserted in an unlocked position. The disc is rotated to a locked position such that the striker cannot be withdrawn through the aperture to open the lid. The weight distribution of the disc is substantially symmetrical about its center of rotation. The disc is therefore less susceptible to dislodging form its locked position upon perturbation from shock experienced.

    摘要: An adaptor for use in a centrifuge bucket for evenly distributing a number of cylindrical test tubes thereacross and for maximizing the number of test tubes positionable in the bucket. The adaptor comprises a thin, flat, disc-shaped plate having a diameter approximately equal to the inside diameter of the bucket and a plurality of separate, unconnected partitions made integral with and extending normal to one side of the plate, the partitions defining a plurality of cavities for receipt of the bases of the test tubes. The partitions support substantially less than the entire circumference of each tube and have lengths which are substantially less than the lengths of the tubes. A lifting tray and handle provide means for lifting the adaptor and test tubes from the rotor bucket.
