摘要: The present invention is generally directed to a tissue product with improved flushability. Specifically, the incorporation of both a temporary wet strength agent and an alkaline reagent into the tissue product results in the tissue product having high initial wet tensile strength and a high rate of wet tensile loss. The high rate of wet tensile loss is caused by the high pH of the alkaline reagent that is incorporated during the dry end of a tissue manufacturing process. The temporary wet strength agent is added in the wet end of a tissue manufacturing process. In certain embodiments of the present invention, glyoxylated polyacrylamide may be used as the temporary wet strength agent, while the alkaline reagent may be in dry form or may be encapsulated.

摘要: Polycyclic polycarbonate (or thiol analog) oligomers are prepared from a mixture of at least one bishaloformate with at least one tetraphenol, or thio analogs thereof. Such mixture may also contain at least one dihydroxy or dimercapto compound. The oligomers are formed by the reaction of such mixtures with alkali metal hydroxides and various amines. The polycyclic oligomer mixtures may be converted to crosslinked polycarbonates or their thiol analogs.

摘要: Inter-nasal delivery devices are disclosed. The inter-nasal delivery devices can include a first nasal element and a second nasal element that are configured to be inserted into adjacent nostrils. In one embodiment, the nasal elements can have a tubular shape. In one embodiment, a sinus relief composition that emits vapors that are to be inhaled by the user can be positioned on the inside surfaces of the nasal elements. Sinus relief composition can be applied to the inside surface without block an open passageway through each nostril. In an alternative embodiment, a pharmaceutically active compound can be applied to exterior surfaces of the nasal elements for absorption through nasal tissue. In still another embodiment, the nasal elements can have a panel-like shape as opposed to a tubular shape.

摘要: A method is disclosed for application of compositions onto non-woven webs, such as paper webs. The present invention is also directed to products made from the process. In general, the method includes applying a composition to a non-woven web using a non-impact printer, such as an ink jet printer. The composition is applied, in one embodiment, as droplets that remain as discrete shapes on the substrate. In this manner, treated areas and untreated areas are formed on the web. Through this process, the water absorption and control properties of the web can be adjusted as desired while simultaneously treating the web with a composition that improves the physical and/or chemical properties of the web.

摘要: Cyclic monocarbonate bischloroformates are prepared by the reaction of a carbonyl halide such as phosgene with a bridged substituted resorcinol or hydroquinone such as bis(2,4-dihydroxy-3-methylphenyl)methane or bis(2,5-dihydroxy-3,4,6-trimethylphenyl)methane in the presence of aqueous alkali metal hydroxide. The cyclic monocarbonate bischloroformates may be used for the preparation of linear or cyclic polycarbonates containing cyclic carbonate structural units, which may in turn be converted to crosslinked polycarbonates.
