摘要： A high speed, high density electrical connector for use with printed circuit boards is described. The connector is in two pieces, each piece including columns of signal contacts and shield plates which interconnect when the two pieces are mated. The shield plates are disposed in each piece of the connector such that, when mated, the shield plates are substantially perpendicular to the shield plates in the other piece of the connector. The shields have a grounding arrangement that is adapted to control the electromagnetic fields for various system architectures, simultaneous switching configurations and signal speeds. Additionally, at least one piece of the connector is manufactured from wafers, with each ground plane and signal column injection molded into components which, when combined, form a wafer.

摘要： An electrical connector assembly used with a daughter board and a back plane that protects the daughter board and the electrical connectors from damage during use. The assembly includes mounting hardware that is attached to the daughter board to prevent it from bending when a high insertion force is used to plug the daughter board onto the back plane. The mounting hardware also prevents the electrical connectors from damage by distributing the insertion force evenly across the connectors. The assembly also includes a protective cover that is attached to the electrical connectors. The protective cover encloses the signal contacts of the electrical connectors that are attached to the daughter board, and swings away automatically to expose the signal contacts when the daughter board is plugged onto the back plane.

摘要： An RF connector module and associated printed circuit board providing high isolation and controlled impedance at RF frequencies. The connector module may be manufactured using conventional manufacturing techniques, such as stamping, insert molding, multi-shot molding and interference fit between components, to provide low cost. A connector module constructed with these techniques may implement a co-planar waveguide structure, with conductive shields for isolation and lossy material to enforce co-planar propagation modes. The printed circuit board may similarly be manufactured using conventional manufacturing techniques, including drilling to form vias. As a result, an interconnection system may be manufactured with low cost. These techniques may be applied to provide performance, including in the form of isolation between RF signals, comparable to that provided by more expensive components.

摘要： A differential connector has a plurality of rows. Each row includes a plurality of signal conductors provided as differential pairs. Each signal conductor has a first contact end connectable to a printed circuit board, a second contact end, and an intermediate portion having a first width. For each differential pair, one first contact end lies along a first line parallel to the plurality of rows and the other first contact end lies along a second line parallel to and spaced from the first line. The differential connector further includes a plurality of ground conductors, with each ground conductor corresponding to a differential pair. Each ground conductor has a first contact end connectable to the printed circuit board, a second contact end, and an intermediate portion having a second width that is at least twice the first width.

摘要： An electrical connector with a reference contact for improved shielding. The contact provides multiple points of contact between members in the ground structure of two mating connectors. The points of contact are arranged to provide desirable current flow in the signal paths and ground structures of the connectors. The contact is stamped from a shield plate and has multiple elongated members that provide spring force for adequate electrical connection. The elongated members are curved to position the points of contact with the desired orientation. Such a contact structure may be used alone or in combination with other compliant structures providing further points of contact.

摘要： An electrical interconnection system with high speed, differential electrical connectors. The connectors are formed with columns of conductive elements, some of which carry signals some of which act as ground conductors. The conductive elements may contain projections to secure the conductive elements in a housing or to facilitate desirable current flow patterns. To avoid impedance discontinuities caused by the projections, adjacent conductive elements may be formed with complementary portions to provide a relatively uniform edge-to-edge spacing between signal and ground conductors along the length of the signal conductor. To manufacture such a connector in which both the signal and the ground conductive elements contain projections, the conductive elements carrying signals may be inserted into a housing from one side and the conductive elements acting as ground conductors may be inserted from an opposite side.
